I began my career as a Graphic Designer and since joining the Information Technology team I've migrated from web development as a Front-End Designer to my current role as a Developer. This has enabled me to use my creative skills to link design with technology.
Technology is always changing and advancing, which means my job is never boring and I enjoy the challenges that each day brings. I love that I'm continually learning new techniques and looking for creative solutions - this is what makes a job in IT so exciting.
Allianz strives to always deliver the best digital experience for our customers, which means pursuing the latest technologies. The IT team therefore need to be adaptable, curious and develop to be the best we can.
Meet Emily, IT Service Management Specialist
I've worked in the IT Service Management Team for 18 months, having joined Allianz as a new mum during the pandemic. When I joined, I was looking for a new opportunity that could offer stability. I've got a strong IT background, with 12 years' experience in the industry. However, I started my role remotely and have therefore had to develop new skills in relationship building and learning to collaborate via technology.
I enjoy helping to improve perceptions and user experience - no two days are the same! To succeed you must be hard working, collaborative and open minded.
Allianz invest a great deal of time into the health and wellbeing of its employees, offering support for working parents, understanding the value of family and providing a fair work/life balance. If you're looking to join IT, my best advice would be just do it, you won't regret it.
Meet Martin, Senior Enterprise Architect
I started my career as a Developer, then spent a decade as a Solution Architect. For the past few years I've been an Enterprise Architect, so I'm definitely a long-term IT person!
At Allianz I have developed core systems for the business, led teams looking after key applications, project managed business development like insurance comparison sites and designed complete end-to-end applications to support new business ventures. Right now I'm working to set strategy for IT that supports our business ambitions.
The biggest difference I've noticed at Allianz compared to other companies is that Allianz provide support for training and development, helping people progress. Opportunity is part of what makes Allianz a great place to work.
Meet Ian, Solution Architect
I have been at Allianz for 14 years now - I started as an Administrator in the post room in our Manchester Branch, but subsequent roles in Claims gave me the chance to work with the IT team. I secured a job in IT as a Business Analyst, then my current role as a Solution Architect within the Strategy and Architecture team.
I think my journey demonstrates one of the great things about Allianz - they recognise your strengths and ambition, regardless of your background, and provide opportunities to advance your career.
I love working for Allianz, I love the people I work with, the work that I do and the opportunities that are afforded to me. I don't believe there are many other companies that would enable someone to go from opening envelopes to designing the systems that underpin the success of our company!
