The primary purpose is to underwrite Commercial Motor Fleet in accordance with AAL underwriting framework, Allianz standards and underwriting authority levels.  Provide quotations for new business and renewals, in accordance with our underwriting strategies, whilst seeking solutions to meet our customer needs, whilst acting as a coach and referral point for underwriters.

 

About the role

  • Take ownership of Motor Fleet underwriting activities across new business, renewals, endorsements, and policy adjustments, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and profitability objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders, delivering exceptional service and tailored solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Drive portfolio performance by balancing growth, retention, profitability, and cross-selling opportunities while supporting commercial and cycle management strategies.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive conditions, and business opportunities, providing insights and recommendations to support informed underwriting decisions and portfolio management.
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members, fostering a high-performing culture while ensuring contract certainty requirements and service standards are consistently achieved.

 

About you

  • Proven experience within the insurance industry, ideally including 2-3 years of Motor Fleet underwriting experience, with strong knowledge of portfolio management, risk assessment, and commercial insurance practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, evaluate options, and make informed underwriting decisions.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain high attention to detail, and ensure compliance with regulatory, legislative, and company requirements.
  • Effective communicator and relationship builder with proven coaching and influencing skills, a customer-focused mindset,
  • A passion for leveraging emerging technologies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
