We are seeking a Risk Consultant who specializes in power generation to support our Natural Resources line of business with a focus on Power Systems and/or Renewable Resources. As a risk consultant, you will work closely with underwriting, claims, distribution and communications to service assigned accounts. You will actively support the growth of our broader Natural Resources portfolio such as expanding our expertise in renewable energies and sustainable operations as well as broadening our outreach to clients in the conventional power sector.
This role is remote but candidates must physically reside in one of the following states to service regional clients: Illinois, Georgia, Texas or New York.

Our Allianz Risk Consulting (ARC) team is made up of experienced engineers from a wide range of technical and scientific disciplines. The team provides a flexible range of risk consulting services, from natural hazards, fire safety, and human and organizational risk factors to in-depth analysis of industry operations, and financial exposures, across all industry sectors and risks. We also focus on delivering bespoke training plans to help our clients to optimize risk management procedures in the long term.
The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the Natural Resources Risk Consulting Manager, this role is responsible for providing loss control expertise, support and assistance to AzC and its customers, to assist Allianz underwriting in risk selection and retention. Provide ongoing co-ordination and monitoring of the loss control activity / servicing of assigned accounts & loss control survey work to assist with servicing of assigned accounts. Develop and maintain professional working relationships with Underwriting, Market Management, Communications, Claims, clients and brokers. Maintain and enhance technical skills and expertise in respective field to support the business
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
- Complete desk top reviews and risk assessments (pre & post loss) for underwriting evaluating and summarizing exposures and controls.
- Work with underwriting, claims, the client and the broker where appropriate to develop customized loss control programs including locations to be surveyed (or included as part of continuing service), scope and cost of risk consulting services.
- Generate and review required reports and recommendations. Meet reporting deadlines in accordance with departmental performance objectives.
- Survey client operations obtain appropriate data, identify hazards, discuss findings with appropriate parties. Generate loss control reports, recommendations etc.
- Appoint / monitor 3rd parties ensuring adequate contract / controls in place with budgets agreed up front. Check and ensure quality of work provided by 3rd parties.
- Assist AzC and clients with respect to ongoing or specific projects. Support technical training presentations for internal and external clients as required / appropriate.
What You’ll Bring to the Role –
- Minimum 7 years’ loss prevention engineering experience in an area relevant to his/her lob
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering. Or Bachelor's degree in another related discipline or Engineering discipline that is associated with your lob will be considered in conjunction with extensive technical expertise in the natural resources risk consulting engineering and insurance industry.
- Good knowledge and professional experience in operational conventional power and utility occupancies such as: gas turbines, diesels, hydros/tidal, biomass, nuclear, geothermal (non-drilling exposures), and thermal solar.
- Good knowledge and professional experience in renewable energy occupancies such as: wind, solar photovoltaic (PV), battery energy storage system (BESS), hydrogen, hydro, and carbon capture.
- Good knowledge and professional experience in various business sectors. Experience or background in managing/coordinating large global corporate accounts within various occupancy sectors.
- Experience in field and desktop evaluation and assessment of risks, including development of loss estimates and risk engineering solutions.
- A demonstrable engineering/technical expertise. Commitment to maintaining knowledge of developments and new technologies in field.
- Able to work technical loss control topics with knowledge of specific business sectors.
- Good knowledge of the MS365 environment, AI tools, data analytics and visualization techniques as well as NATCAT modeling principles.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work effectively in both home office and team environments.
- Proactive change agent, adapting with ease and promoting among peers the adoption of new technologies, processes and working methods.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. Presentation skills in a varied environment. Organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel throughout the US, with the potential for some Canada or international travel.
- The ability to utilize AI tools to support day-today tasks, improve efficiency, and contribute to data-driven decision-making is valuable. A willingness to learn and explore how AI can enhance your role and the broader organization is expected.

The annualized base pay range for this role are as follows:
Georgia: $102,182 - $154,364
Illinois/Texas: $112,818 - $170,509
New York: $130, 273 - $196,891
The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
