Department
The Claims Department consists of around 30 employees who specialize in handling insurance claims for travel insurance, bicycle insurance, and related products. It is a dynamic department where the customer is always at the center. Claims vary from complex to simple and come in via telephone, email, and online portals, all requiring efficient handling.
The department is transitioning toward more digitalization and optimization of the customer journey. Claims cost control and fraud prevention are key activities in travel insurance. This means we ask our employees to actively think about how we can digitalize while still maintaining a strong focus on claims cost control.
What will you do?
As a Claims Handler, you are the primary contact for the customer and independently assess files based on insurance coverage. You will engage with customers and intermediaries, and get to know all aspects of the claims handling process, including administrative, telephone, and financial tasks. You also actively contribute ideas on the execution of claims handling and the level of quality we aim to provide our clients. You keep yourself informed about developments in the field.
A typical workday as a Claims Handler is highly varied:
- You handle claims with precision and attention to accurate processing of customer data.
- You register claims, create case files, check insurance coverage, and decide whether the claim falls under the policy.
- You draft standard letters in line with writing guidelines and answer questions accurately (including by phone).
- You remain alert to exceptional situations not covered by work instructions.
- You share your knowledge and expertise with less experienced colleagues and assist them with complex claims.
What do we expect from you?
- Availability of 32–40 hours per week.
- MBO+ / HBO level of working and thinking (equivalent to upper secondary vocational education or bachelor level).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Claims Handler.
- Possession of WFT Basis and WFT Particulier certifications (mandatory requirement).
- Fluent in Dutch and English.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Service-oriented attitude.
- A drive to investigate different incidents thoroughly.
- Affinity with the travel industry and/or financial sector.
- Resilient under pressure, flexible, accurate, and curious.
- Skilled at navigating the digital world and switching quickly between systems.
