About the role
If you are a solid Software Engineer passionate about leveraging Artificial Intelligence, Agentic workflows, and modern development practices to transform how software is designed, developed, and delivered, this role is for you.
You will join the BMP Retail team, working at the intersection of core software engineering and AI integration. Rather than training AI models from scratch, you will focus on driving the adoption of AI-first engineering practices, Agentic AI, Spec-Driven Development (SDD), and vibe coding methodologies across multiple lines of business. In this role, you will play a key part in designing and building intelligent, scalable, and production-ready backend services and automated solutions that accelerate software delivery while ensuring quality, governance, and compliance.

What you do
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, and business stakeholders to understand business needs, translating them into clear software solution requirements and success criteria.
- Design end-to-end AI-enabled software solutions, defining domain models, API contracts, data schemas, decision rules, and policies that serve as the foundation for development and automation.
- Embrace and champion vibe coding practices, leveraging high-level AI prompt-driven development and rapid iteration cycles to quickly turn ideas into functional prototypes and production-ready code.
- Drive the adoption of Spec-Driven Development (SDD) practices, using specifications as a single source of truth to enable AI-assisted generation, validation, testing, and documentation of software solutions.
- Develop, integrate, and maintain AI-powered tools, agents, and orchestrators that improve efficiency, quality, and speed throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
- Design and implement robust backend integrations with internal APIs, databases, search platforms, and enterprise services while ensuring secure access control and governance standards.
- Deliver scalable backend services, APIs, data layers, and frontend capabilities that support BMP Retail products and business processes.
- Continuously improve AI agents, prompts, specifications, evaluation frameworks, and guardrails to enhance solution quality, reliability, and business value.
- Participate in architecture discussions, specification reviews, code reviews, testing activities, demonstrations, and troubleshooting of complex technical issues.
- Contribute to effort estimation, feasibility assessments, and technical decision-making within agile development teams.
- Promote software engineering excellence through best practices, documentation, automation, and knowledge sharing.
What you bring
- University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, combined with 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
- Strong software engineering foundation and programming expertise in modern languages such as Kotlin, Python, Java, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with vibe coding and AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Dev, or custom coding agents) to accelerate development and rapidly iterate on software architectures.
- Applied experience with AI technologies and integrations, including Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, prompt engineering, agentic frameworks, and AI evaluation methodologies.
- Practical knowledge of Spec-Driven Development (SDD), Contract-First Design, or related approaches, using technologies such as OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, JSON Schema, Protocol Buffers, or policy-as-code frameworks.
- Experience designing and delivering cloud-native software solutions in Azure, AWS, or OCI, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern DevOps practices.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture and integration patterns, including API-First Design, Event-Driven Architecture, Hexagonal Architecture, microservices, and messaging technologies such as Apache Kafka.
- Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, combined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams in agile environments and proficiency in English (B2 level or higher).
Nice to have
- Experience building high-performance backend systems with Kotlin (e.g., Spring Boot, Ktor, Coroutines) within AI-driven environments.
- Experience applying Spec-Driven Development to AI-powered systems and agentic architectures.
- Insurance industry knowledge and familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, DORA, or the EU AI Act.
- Experience working in international and distributed software development organizations.
