Role Overview:

We are looking for a Data Architect (m/f/d) to join Allianz Services Spain, contributing to the Data & AI Service through the definition of architecture standards, reference designs, and data platform blueprints. The role focuses on defining, documenting and governing modern data architectures across platforms, data products, data governance, and AI integration, aligned with Allianz Group standards.

What you do:

  • Define and maintain architecture standards, blueprints and reference architectures aligned with Group Data strategy. Produce clear and actionable architectural documentation (principles, guardrails, patterns) for engineering and data teams.
  • Translate complex architecture topics into consumable guidance for technical and business stakeholders and design modern data platform architectures (e.g., lakehouse, data mesh, self-service data platforms).
  • Define end-to-end data flows from ingestion to consumption (BI, analytics, AI), contribute to standardization of Azure-based data platforms and cloud-native architectures and define integration patterns for data catalogues, lineage and governance tooling; Ensure alignment with data governance frameworks, data quality and compliance requirements.
  • Support definition of monitoring and telemetry patterns for data reliability and compliance and define standards for data products, including data contracts, quality controls, and lifecycle management.
  • Support implementation patterns for reusable and interoperable data products to contribute to cross-entity data sharing models and architectural guardrails.
  • Define architectural patterns for integrating data platforms with AI/ML and GenAI solutions whilst also making sure data products are AI-ready (APIs, semantic layers, interfaces); Contribute to responsible AI and governance-aligned architecture principles.
  • Provide architectural guidance to engineering teams and stakeholders within Allianz Services delivery model; Support architecture reviews, ensuring alignment with standards and best practices and contribute to knowledge sharing and community of practice initiatives.

What you bring:

  • University degree in Data Science, Data Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience) with 5–8 years of hands-on experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise architecture roles.
  • Strong command of modern data platform architectures (Data Mesh, Data Lakehouse, medallion architecture, event-driven patterns) and practical experience with cloud-native data platforms (Databricks and/or Microsoft Fabric strongly preferred).
  • Experience designing and governing Data Products (data contracts, output ports, semantic versioning, quality gates, lineage), familiarity with enterprise data governance frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK, TOGAF or equivalent) and their practical application.
  • Understanding of regulatory data requirements relevant to financial services or insurance (DORA, IFRS 17, Solvency II awareness welcomed). Working knowledge of Open Table Formats (Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg) and their role in enterprise storage standards.
  • Experience with data cataloguing and governance tooling (e.g., Informatica IDMC, Unity Catalogue, or comparable platforms) and an understanding of how Data Products connect to AI/ML pipelines, GenAI applications, and agentic systems.
  • Awareness of API and integration standards (REST, OpenAPI, MCP– Model Context Protocol, event-streaming such as Kafka/AsyncAPI); Comfortable presenting architectural concepts and facilitating discussions with architects, engineers, and stakeholders within a structured delivery model.
  • Strong written communication skills with ability to produce clear, structured, and high-quality architectural documentation, collaborative working style with ability to operate in a matrixed, multinational organization.
  • We highly welcome candidates with a genuine interest and affinity for Information Technology (IT) and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), as these attributes are considered valuable assets to our team.

What we offer:

  • We offer a hybrid work model which recognizes the value of striking a balance between in-person collaboration and remote working incl. up to 25 days per year working from abroad.
  • We believe in rewarding performance and our compensation and benefits package includes a company bonus scheme, pension, employee shares program and multiple employee discounts (details vary by location).
  • From career development and digital learning programs to international career mobility, we offer lifelong learning for our employees worldwide and an environment where innovation, delivery and empowerment are fostered.
