In the role of the Enterprise Ontology Architect you will be part of the Allianz Services with a specific focus on the Enterprise Ontology /Global data Model. In addition to this, you will support Allianz entities in data transformation. By joining us you will be part of a lively and international team based on 8 nations and diverse backgrounds. You will learn about Allianz data strategy and be an active part to collaborate with the Chief Data Officers and the data teams across many entities of Allianz Group.
What you do
- Design and maintain the Global Data Model / Enterprise Ontology, ensuring consistency across business domains.
- Develop and refine conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support Allianz’s data strategy.
- Create and manage high-level data representations and relationships in OWL, using tools like Protégé and Metaphactory.
- Conduct workshops and training sessions on ontology modeling and data governance for internal teams.
- Provide guidance to business analysts, data stewards, and developers on data best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve data quality, automation, and integration across business units.
- Drive proof-of-concept initiatives for new data modeling approaches or governance enhancements.
- Work with compliance teams to assess risks and ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks such as DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act)
- Support data stewardship initiatives, ensuring metadata management, data lineage, and governance best practices.
- Architect and refine ontology-based data structures to facilitate semantic interoperability across multiple data platforms and databases.
- Optimize the Data Vault model, ensuring business attributes are correctly stored and followed the agreed design principles.
- Integrate Enterprise Ontology within the Data Management Service to support DORA-compliant information asset visualization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Data Governance, Data Engineering, Business Units) to ensure ontology-driven data governance.
- Design and implement standardized metadata structures for data lineage, traceability, and compliance reporting.
- Develop ontology mappings to link business glossaries, data dictionaries, and semantic models across the organization.
- Ensure best practices for ontology modeling and knowledge graph implementations.
- Drive adoption of ontology-based governance frameworks, providing guidance to data stewards, architects, and engineers.
- Collaborate with engineering and platform teams to ensure seamless integration of your data models into Allianz’s ADP on Microsoft Azure.
- Optimize data workflows for scalability, efficiency, and business alignment.
What you bring
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Additional studies in Data Management, Semantic Technologies, or Enterprise Architecture are a plus.
- Strong experience with Data Modeling (Conceptual, Logical, Physical, Data Vault 2.0). Data Vault 2.0 Certification.
- Expertise in Ontology Modeling (OWL, RDF, SPARQL, Protégé, Metaphactory)
- Expertise in modeling visualization (Erwin, SQLDBM)
- Proficiency in SQL, NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred).
- Familiarity with data integration tools, ETL pipelines, and semantic technologies.
- Familiarity with Data Governance Service tools. Informatica IDMC preferred.
- Fluent in English (required) both written and spoken.
Nice to have:
- Certifications in Data Architecture (e.g., DAMA Certified Data Management Professional - CDMP, TOGAF, or equivalent)
- Cloud Data Architecture certification (e.g., Microsoft Azure Data Engineer, AWS Certified Data Analytics)
- 4+ years of experience in data architecture, with a focus on ontology modeling, data vault architecture, and data governance.
- Strong understanding of Enterprise Ontology, Global Data Models, and conceptual modeling.
- Strong understanding of insurance business.
- Experience working with compliance teams, ensuring data governance aligns with regulatory standards.
- Ability to align data architecture with business strategy
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including compliance, IT, and business stakeholders.
- Skills to coordinate workshops, especially on ontology modeling and data vault modelling.
- Ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills for workshops and meetings.
- Flexibility to adapt the data model based on business needs.
- Empathy and active listening to understand diverse perspectives and drive consensus.
- Skill in guiding teams and driving initiatives in a dynamic environment.
- Capacity to analyze challenges, think strategically, and devise innovative solutions.
- Willingness to stay updated with emerging trends and technologies, adjusting strategies as needed.
