About the role

Join Allianz Technology in Barcelona as a Data Engineer supporting PIMCO Prime Real Estate and help build the data capabilities behind investment, asset management and risk analytics.

You will work on the PIMCO Data Platform, designing and delivering secure, scalable and reliable data solutions in an Azure-based environment. From building modern data pipelines and lakehouse capabilities to improving automation, governance and performance, your work will help transform complex data into trusted and accessible data products.

You will collaborate with product owners, solution architects and platform teams in an international environment where you can combine strong engineering expertise with innovation, ownership and continuous improvement.

What you do

• Design, build and operate scalable batch and streaming data pipelines using Azure, Databricks, Spark and Delta Lake.
• Develop robust ELT workflows with Python and SQL, using orchestration tools such as Azure Data Factory while enabling automated delivery through CI/CD.
• Build and evolve lakehouse architectures and data models, ensuring data quality, governance, lineage and integration with enterprise data solutions.
• Apply security and privacy by design, implementing appropriate access controls, encryption and secrets management in line with Allianz standards.
• Optimize data solutions for performance, reliability and cost, monitoring KPIs and SLAs and contributing to incident and problem resolution.
• Partner with business, analytics and technology teams to translate requirements into reusable, well-documented data products.
• Support platform migrations and integrations while increasing automation through Infrastructure as Code and testing frameworks.
• Contribute to engineering best practices and explore how AI and emerging technologies can enhance our data platform and ways of working.

What you bring

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, building cloud-based data pipelines and scalable data platforms.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL, together with Azure data services and Databricks/Spark, including Delta Lake.
• Experience with data orchestration tools such as Azure Data Factory or Airflow and a solid understanding of lakehouse and modern data architecture patterns.
• Knowledge of data modeling, governance, data quality and lineage, with the ability to build reliable and maintainable data solutions.
• Experience implementing secure-by-design data solutions, ideally within regulated or complex enterprise environments.
• Strong DevOps knowledge, including Git, CI/CD, testing, observability and Infrastructure as Code using technologies such as Terraform, ARM or Bicep.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, experience working in Agile environments, and fluency in English. Spanish or Catalan is a plus.
• An interest in AI technologies and their practical application, combined with a proactive mindset and enthusiasm for continuous learning.
