Role Purpose
A key member of a team, responsible for designing, developing, and deploying AI solutions that drive business value. To develop and operationalize AI capabilities leveraging Databricks on Microsoft Azure, and build the understanding of how AI can transform business processes through a series of use cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the department's AI & Cloud Architecture SME, providing strategic leadership and expert guidance on AI (Machine Learning, Generative AI, LLMs, Agentic AI) and Microsoft Azure technologies.
- Design, build, test, and optimize scalable AI and cloud architectures on Azure, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient data processing, storage, and integration.
- Develop and implement AI-powered solutions leveraging Azure OpenAI Service, Databricks, and other cloud-native technologies to deliver high-value business outcomes.
- Evaluate, select, and integrate foundation models, third-party AI services, and emerging technologies, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical standards.
- Establish and maintain best practices, governance frameworks, operating procedures, and documentation for AI, data, and cloud platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide technical leadership, support major initiatives, and champion AI adoption across all areas of the organization.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement by staying current with advancements in AI, cloud computing, data engineering, and industry best practices.
Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, including at least 2 years specializing in Generative AI, NLP, LLMs, or Agentic AI solutions.
- Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale AI, data, and cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure and Databricks platforms.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Python, SQL, Spark, Azure AI services, Azure OpenAI, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, MLflow, Delta Lake, and model-serving technologies.
- Demonstrated experience building and deploying LLM-based applications, including prompt engineering, RAG architectures, vector databases, AI agents, and orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex.
- Proven track record of leading AI, data, or technology projects and mentoring technical teams in AI/ML development, solution design, and implementation.
- Experience with MLOps practices, model lifecycle management, monitoring, fine-tuning techniques (LoRA, RLHF, instruction tuning), and CI/CD automated delivery pipelines.
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field (Master's or PhD preferred), with relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure AI Engineer Associate or Databricks Machine Learning Professional; insurance or financial services experience is an advantage.
