Senior Controller - Strategic Projects Lead CTO-1 (m/f/d)

About the Job

We are looking for a Senior Controller to lead the Strategic Projects area within the unified CTO-1 (Germany & Switzerland) and Central Europe Finance team. You drive financial initiatives and central demand across the region, act as the main point of contact for strategic and ad hoc topics, and also cover reporting responsibilities as part of the role. You work independently, take full ownership, and are comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and central functions.

What you do

• Drive strategic projects: Take full ownership of financial initiatives and central demand, covering strategic topics and ad hoc requests from central functions, end to end.
• Manage central requests: Be the first point of contact for incoming central requests, assess priorities, and make sure each one is picked up, tracked, and delivered on time.
• Support reporting: Cover reporting tasks as a secondary responsibility, including contributing to management output and ensuring content is decision-ready for senior stakeholders.
• Deliver clear output: Package and present financial analysis and project updates in a structured way that supports senior management decisions.
• Use AI and automation: Champion the use of AI (including Claude) and other tools to make project and reporting work smarter, and keep looking for ways to simplify and improve how we work.
• Communicate proactively: Stay in close contact with central and local colleagues, senior finance managers, Heads of IT, and senior management across the Germany, Switzerland, and Central Europe regions.
• Support the transformation: Contribute to bringing Germany, Switzerland, and Central Europe together under the new Finance organizational set-up.

What you bring

• Degree in Finance, Controlling, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field, with at least 8 years of experience in controlling or finance, ideally with exposure to strategic projects or financial initiatives in a complex, multi-entity or international environment.
• Proven ability to manage projects, coordinate across functions and deliver to senior stakeholders under pressure as well as strong financial analysis skills and the ability to turn complex topics into clear, concise output.
• A genuine interest and knowledge in AI and automation tools (e.g. Claude, Power BI, Power Platform) and how they can make finance work better. Good knowledge of SAP (FI/CO) or similar ERP systems and strong MS Excel skills.
• Fluent in English; German is a plus but not mandatory.
• Self-starter; you take ownership and drive your projects forward without needing to be pushed. You can handle complex topics and break them down into a clear plan and story, you care about the detail and hold yourself to a high standard on every deliverable, build trust quickly, and know how to present to a senior audience.
• You embrace AI and new tools and always look for a better, simpler way of working, whilst staying focused and effective even when priorities shift and deadlines are tight.
• You work well with others and know how to bring Steering, Reporting, and central functions together to get things done.
