Team Lead - Senior Finance Manager (m/f/d)

About the Job

The Senior Finance Manager is responsible for the full financial oversight of the Allianz Germany customer scope.

The role acts as the primary sparring partner to both the Head of IT for Germany and the Regional Head of Finance, and supports the end-to-end management of Germany Branch financials across a total cost budget of over 2 billion EUR, in close collaboration with Finance teams across other central functions such as Infrastructure and Applications.

The position holder leads a team of 6 FTEs and is a trusted advisor and key interface to the customer and central finance functions.

What you do

• Sparring partner to the Head of IT and Regional Head of Finance: Act as the primary financial counterpart to both the Head of IT for Germany and the Regional Head of Finance, jointly steering financial topics, preparing governance meetings, and providing clear financial analysis to support business decisions.
• Financial oversight and performance: Own the end-to-end financial performance for the Allianz Germany customer scope, including planning, forecasting, actuals, closing, and variance analysis across a total cost budget of over 2 billion EUR. This includes close collaboration with Finance teams in other central functions such as Infrastructure and Applications to ensure end-to-end management of Germany Branch financials.
• Customer engagement: Serve as the senior finance interface to Allianz Germany, representing Allianz Technology's financial position and ensuring full transparency on IT costs and charges.
• Team leadership: Lead, develop, and coach a team of 6 FTEs, ensuring strong delivery, quality, and professional growth across the team.
• Planning and pricing: Drive the annual planning and forecasting cycles, including consolidation, challenge, and sign-off of financial targets in alignment with IT and central finance.
• Strategic advice and business cases: Provide financial advisory on business cases, investment decisions, and structural topics, and act as a functional approver for finance processes within the Germany scope.
• AI, automation, and simplification: Champion the use of AI (including Claude) and modern tools to improve efficiency in financial processes, and continuously look for ways to simplify and improve how the team works.

What you bring

• Degree in Finance, Controlling, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field, with at least 13 years of experience in financial controlling, finance management, or a related senior finance role, ideally in a complex, multi-entity or international environment.
• Proven track record as a sparring partner to senior IT or business leadership, with the ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights. Strong skills in financial planning, forecasting, and performance management across large cost budgets.
• Confident in engaging with customers and senior stakeholders at all levels. Experience leading and developing a team.
• A genuine interest in AI and automation tools (e.g. Claude, Power BI, Power Platform) and how they can make finance work better. Good knowledge of SAP (FI/CO) or similar ERP systems and strong MS Excel skills. You embrace AI and new tools and keep pushing for better, simpler ways of working and stay grounded and effective in a demanding, fast-moving environment.
• You command the room with senior leaders and customers, and you bring the depth of experience to back it up.
• You are the go-to person for the Head of IT and you make financial complexity easy to navigate. You lead, coach, and develop your team and bring out the best in the people around you.
• Take full accountability for your scope and nothing falls through the cracks. You get to the point, tell a compelling story, and adapt your style to your audience; for this reason, fluency in English and German is required.
