Engineering Inspection New Business Underwriter

Role Description

Join our dynamic and successful Engineering Inspection Services Department as an Engineering Inspection New Business Underwriter within our new business team. You will play a key role in driving profitable growth, building strong broker and client relationships, and delivering an outstanding customer experience while developing your underwriting expertise within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Location: This role is based in our Birmingham office, please note that this is a hybrid working role with the expectation that attend the office 2-3 days per week.

Salary Information

Pay: Circa £35,000 per year.

The salary offered will reflect your experience, skills, and location and forms part of our comprehensive total rewards package.

About You

• Underwrite profitable new business engineering inspection quotations within agreed authority levels and underwriting guidelines.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients through virtual and face-to-face meetings.
• Trade, negotiate and secure new business opportunities while achieving agreed targets.
• Work closely with colleagues across Engineering Inspection Services and Distribution to identify and convert new business opportunities.
• Prospect and qualify potential leads, helping to grow the engineering inspection portfolio.
• Anticipate objections and confidently present solutions that demonstrate the value of Allianz products and services.
• Handle customer and broker enquiries by telephone and in writing, delivering high levels of service and professionalism.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the wider business, sharing knowledge and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Take ownership of your personal development, continuously expanding your technical and market knowledge.
• Champion Allianz values by being Brave, With Heart, Inspiring Trust and Being Responsible in all interactions.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience within insurance or financial services.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders.
• Experience negotiating, trading and managing customer relationships.
• Ability to make informed decisions using sound judgement and analytical thinking.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.
• Proactive approach to problem solving and delivering results.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Skills

• Experience within commercial insurance underwriting or engineering-related insurance products.
• Understanding of broker distribution channels and new business development.
• Experience identifying and developing sales opportunities through prospecting activity.
• Knowledge of engineering inspection services, risk management or related insurance products.
• Ability to contribute innovative ideas that improve team performance and customer outcomes.
• Experience working within a target-driven environment.
• Responsible Artificial Intelligence usage.
