Senior Underwriter - Commercial Combined

Role Description

Allianz Commercial has ambitious growth plans, with the continued development of our proposition for customers with a turnover exceeding £500m being a key part of that strategy.

As a Senior Underwriter - Commercial Combined, you will play a key role in underwriting and growing a portfolio of large and complex corporate risks. Working closely with brokers, customers and colleagues across Allianz Commercial, you will use your technical expertise, trading skills and market knowledge to drive profitable growth, retain key accounts and identify new business opportunities.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Commercial Combined Underwriter looking to take the next step in their career, offering increased responsibility, exposure to high-profile accounts and the opportunity to operate as a senior authority holder. You'll also contribute to the ongoing development of our mid corporate proposition while helping deliver outstanding service and solutions for our customers.

Location: This role is based in our Birmingham office. Please note that this is a hybrid working role with the expectation that you attend the office 2 days a week.

Salary Information

Pay: Circa £60,000 per annum

Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

•  An experienced Commercial Combined Underwriter with a passion for delivering profitable growth.
•  Comfortable operating as a senior authority holder, underwriting and managing large and complex risks.
•  A relationship-focused professional who enjoys building strong partnerships with brokers and customers.
•  Highly visible in the market and motivated by face-to-face engagement with brokers, clients and key stakeholders.
•  Commercially minded, with the ability to identify opportunities and develop long-term business relationships.
•  Customer-focused, delivering an outstanding level of service while balancing risk and reward.
•  A collaborative team player who works effectively across departments to achieve shared objectives.
•  Driven to achieve financial and operational targets through strong underwriting and trading performance.

Essential Skills

•  Strong technical underwriting expertise within Commercial Combined business, including risks in excess of £500k.
•  Demonstrable experience of successfully winning, developing and retaining new business opportunities within a Commercial Combined underwriting environment.
•  Proven experience underwriting large and/or complex corporate risks.
•  Strong trading and negotiation skills, with a track record of delivering profitable growth.
•  Ability to leverage data, insights and analytics to support underwriting decisions.
•  Excellent relationship-building skills with brokers, customers and internal stakeholders.
•  Strong leadership and influencing capabilities.
•  Confident communicator with the ability to challenge constructively and build credibility at all levels.
•  Highly organised, self-motivated and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
•  A collaborative approach with a willingness to support and develop others.
•  ACII qualified, or actively working towards qualification.
•  Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
