Role Description
The purpose of this role is to implement the technical strategy and collaborate with Claims teams and key senior stakeholders across the business. The role also has a small requirement of management of complex, high-value claims within an area of specialism (with substantial financial authority in excess of £10m). Caseload fluctuates from 0 to approx. 20% of the role.
Reporting to the Technical Major Loss Strategy Manager, it involves supporting the implementation of the major loss technical Claims strategy to optimise outcomes, overseeing technical training, and predominantly collaborating with MLT Claim teams for knowledge sharing. Additionally, the role contributes to improving account performance, conducts supplier claim reviews (Legal and Loss Adjuster), supports on broker presentations, and contributes to business performance packs and technical initiatives
This is a Hybrid role - multi site working is available, specific location for this role can be discussed at interview.

About You
- Proactively manage a small portfolio of claims containing, the most technically challenging/highest value cases within specialism, delivering optimum outcomes for our customers.
- Act as a senior oversight point for technical referrals in line with the Financial Authorities framework.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other claims handlers.
- To take ownership and/or to assist with the delivery of strategic projects and priorities both within team and more widely within the business.
- Help oversee the successful implementation/execution of our claim’s strategies and standards.
- Responsible for leading and supporting the development and implementation of data led strategies which optimise customer and business outcomes.
- Contributing to or lead where appropriate on the development and creation of Claims Machine learning models alongside the Allianz Data Science Team
- Help identify trends, risks and opportunities making recommendations to Claims Management for improvement.
- Support the technical development and upskilling of our people through coaching, mentoring and the delivery of in-house training.
- Working in collaboration to support the development of the technical training plan.
- Ensure claims recovery practices meet internal standards, coordinates with legal providers for recovery, and recommends process improvements to reduce risk and error.
- Work collaboratively with operations to undertake and support the peer review program, ensuring quality feedback is obtained and shared.
- Support business propositions by leading and contributing to customer/broker claim reviews, tenders, and forum presentations.
- Work collaboratively with other business areas providing expert insight and knowledge to help improve account performance and resolve problem statements.
- As a technical SME, work collaboratively with business teams to develop/enhance claims standards and guidance material ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Build and maintain strong links with industry counterparts and business partners, represent Allianz at review and industry meetings to drive forward the Allianz agenda in market meetings.
- Work with procurement and panel suppliers to help optimise indemnity spend initiatives.
Essential Skills
- Proven expert with market leading technical knowledge in the field of specialism.
- Expert knowledge of leading case law and precedent setting decisions within specialism.
- Superior knowledge of Allianz claims standards and guidance with excellent knowledge of regulatory and consumer duty requirements.
- Excellent leadership skills, able to flex style to fit the needs of the people/situation with previous experience of leading coaching and training.
- Problem solver, ability to “think out of the box.” with excellent decision-making skills and comfortable owning a solution.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand development trends.
- Strong level of presentation skills, able to confidently speak in a public setting.
- Enjoys driving change and willing to embrace a test and learn, fail fast environment.
- High levels of resilience, able to balance multiple tasks at pace with excellent time management skills and the ability to successfully prioritise tasks.
- Strong business knowledge and market understanding.
- Significant claims handling experience across relevant lines of business with notable exposure to complex/high severity claims.
- Able to demonstrate technical expertise required to successfully fulfil the responsibilities of the role.
- Prior experience in a role which develops leadership/strategic skills.
- Previous experience of working with data to deliver performance improvement.
- Experience of successfully implementing change.
- Proven track record of supporting the technical development of people.
- Some experience of working at an industry level.
- Experience working with supply chain to drive improvement
Desirable Skills
- ACII or considerable progress towards a suitable industry qualification is desirable.
- University degree in a relevant subject or equivalent relevant experience.
