Position Reports To: Senior Financial Accountant

Department: Accounting and Financial Reporting

Location: AGL Head Office, Maple House, Temple Road, Blackrock, Co. Dublin.

Main Purpose of Job

  • Manage and execute accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
  • Coordinate invoice approvals and maintain record of invoice settlements through suitable systems for in-house operations, while providing guidance and supervision for outsourced processes.
  • Address inquiries from vendors and customers and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Assist in the preparation, filing and payment of VAT returns and ensure compliance with relevant regulations across European jurisdictions.
  • Support month-end closing activities, including credit card reconciliations, accruals, and other financial postings.
  • Assisting in balance sheet reconciliations, including individual vendor and customer accounts, as well as control accounts and credit card control accounts.
  • Process ad hoc bank payments and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Provide support to broader finance team as required.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize accounts payable procedures and enhance efficiency.
  • Assist with the external audit, including preparation of supporting documentation and information required by external auditors;

 

Key Performance Measures

  • Accountable for precise and prompt accounts payable and receivable management, as well as vendor balance oversight, in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP for the Company's European branches.
  • Timely preparation of required journal entries within Group closing deadlines, to ensure compliance with Group accounting standards;
  • Timely preparation and submission in respect of VAT returns. Accurate and timely reconciliation of balance sheet accounts to ensure precision and swiftly address any discrepancies.
  • Timely processing of required bank payments
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to maintain effective communication and foster strong relationships

Business Competencies

Education & qualifications

  • Accounts technician qualification completed or near completion

Professional Competence

  • 2+ years’ experience in a busy invoice processing/control role with VAT responsibilities

Product and Technical knowledge

  • SAP Accounting system including invoicing sub-
  • Ledgers, banking, - can be beneficial;
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.

Management

  • Self-manage multiple priorities, routine work and urgent requests. 

Commercial Awareness

  • Clear understanding of key business processes and strategicgoals, and comprehensive understanding of the regulatory and legal environment.
