Claims Consultant – Travel Insurance

Are you passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences and making a real impact when customers need it most? We’re looking for a dedicated Claims Consultant – Travel to join our dynamic team and help shape the future of our travel insurance claims function.
Reporting to the Claims Team Leader – Travel, you’ll play a key role in assessing claims accurately and efficiently, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to continuous improvement across the department.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
✔ Assess travel insurance claims across all categories with accuracy, fairness, and efficiency
✔ Deliver empathetic, clear communication to customers—even in complex scenarios
✔ Support the Claims Team Leader in driving process improvement and best practices
✔ Contribute to training and development, helping onboard and mentor junior assessors
✔ Manage multiple priorities while maintaining high-quality outcomes
✔ Promote a collaborative team culture, contributing to succession planning and targets
Key Outcomes You Influence
Claims Accuracy & Efficiency
You’ll ensure claims are processed within company guidelines and regulatory standards, meeting required turnaround times.
Customer Experience
Using strong communication skills, you’ll provide a positive and supportive claims journey, even when delivering difficult outcomes.
Process Improvement & Compliance
You’ll help identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve assessment quality, and maintain compliance with policies and industry standards.
What You Bring
Communication & Influence
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills across phone, email, and written communication
- Ability to liaise professionally with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Experience delivering training or presentations
- Skilled in conflict resolution with a customer-first mindset
Organisational Strength
- Highly organised with excellent time-management skills
- Confidence managing high-volume caseloads in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to balance urgent matters with routine assessments without compromising accuracy
Claims & Insurance Expertise
- Sound ability to interpret and apply policy wording to deliver fair outcomes
- Experience handling complex, high-value, or non-routine claims
- Strong analytical and judgment skills to determine appropriate settlements
- Ability to provide expert advice to both customers and internal teams
