Risk & Control Officer – Sales & Distribution

What You’ll Do

As part of the Sales & Distribution team, the Risk & Control Officer plays a key role in supporting compliance, assurance, and risk management across the Sales function. This specialist role ensures the business operates in a legal, ethical, and resilient way, while enabling sustainable growth in an increasingly digital and data‑driven environment.

You will lead and support assurance activities, contribute to strong governance frameworks, and help embed future‑ready controls that support innovation, automation, and the responsible use of AI‑enabled tools across Sales & Distribution.


Key Responsibilities

Assurance & Risk Management

  • Support management with risk, compliance, and assurance activities across Sales & Distribution
  • Review processes, procedures, and documentation to identify control gaps and emerging risks
  • Monitor, test, and evaluate remediation plans arising from audits, incidents, and assurance reviews
  • Support preventative controls and continuous-improvement initiatives to reduce risk exposure
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise on business processes, policies, and digital initiatives

Governance, Planning & Action Management

  • Develop and implement effective action plans in response to audit findings and assurance outcomes
  • Support scalable and sustainable governance models aligned to agile and digital ways of working
  • Coordinate assurance communications and manage stakeholder expectations
  • Strengthen Technical Excellence through fit‑for‑purpose controls, automation, and standardisation

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner closely with Sales leaders and cross‑functional teams to co‑design practical risk solutions
  • Provide trusted advice on risk mitigation strategies, controls, and compliance expectations

Reporting & Insights

  • Coordinate, compile, and maintain compliance records and assurance reporting
  • Deliver clear, insight‑driven reporting that highlights trends, risks, opportunities, and control effectiveness

Internal Audit & Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to policies, regulatory requirements, and governance standards
  • Support senior management reporting with a forward‑looking and risk‑aware perspective

Learning, Change & Projects

  • Translate legislative and regulatory requirements into efficient, practical business processes
  • Support governance training and promote a strong risk and assurance culture
  • Provide specialist risk and compliance support for Sales & Distribution initiatives and projects
  • Review and help design new or changed processes, systems, and controls to maximise benefits

AI Readiness & Digital Capability

  • Comfortable working in digitally enabled, data‑rich environments
  • Awareness of AI, automation, and data analytics and their impact on risk, compliance, and governance
  • Ability to apply risk and control thinking to AI‑supported tools, decision‑making, and processes
  • Strong appreciation of responsible AI principles, including transparency, governance, and ethical use
  • Open to continuous learning as technology, regulation, and business models evolve

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in insurance and/or financial services, ideally within a Sales environment
  • Knowledge of legislative and regulatory frameworks, risk management, and compliance obligations
  • Exposure to business requirements, business planning, or project delivery frameworks
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem‑solving capabilities
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills
  • High attention to detail with strong reporting and documentation skills
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
  • Solutions‑focused mindset with a strong delivery orientation
