As Manager Legal, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the legal strategy of Allianz Benelux. Reporting directly to the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, you will lead a dynamic and highly skilled team within a transversal legal department. This position offers broad exposure to diverse legal topics across life and non-life insurance, giving you the opportunity to make a real impact on the company’s strategic direction

 

What we count on you for:

  • You are responsible for coaching 6 Legal Experts and the Complaints Department, setting their objectives and evaluating their performance.
  • From the legal department, you contribute to defining the company’s short-, medium-, and long-term strategy. You also translate strategic decisions made by management into actionable steps for your team.
  • Together with your team, you safeguard the company’s legal interests with clients, suppliers, and partners in the insurance sector.
  • You are involved in various key areas for the company: corporate law, prudential law, insurance law, contract law, legislation on insurance distribution, competition law, etc.
  • You represent Allianz BNL in external bodies, such as Assuralia’s Legal Studies Commission.
  • You act as a trusted advisor to the Chief Legal and Compliance BNL on sensitive matters, including HR-related issues or M&A operations.
  • You organize legal training sessions for Allianz BNL employees together with your team.
  • With your legal experts, you also provide necessary input to the product development department for creating or adapting life and non-life insurance products.
  • More broadly, you and your team ensure proactive monitoring of legislation applicable to Allianz BNL. You also act as a sparring partner to the Chief Legal and Compliance BNL in this area and contribute to related internal communications.

 

Your profile

  • You hold a Master’s degree in Law obtained in Belgium and have at least 8 years of experience in a legal role within the insurance sector.
  • You have proven expertise in prudential law and insurance law.
  • You have experience in coaching team members.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and French and have a good command of English.
  • You are structured, analytical, and capable of producing clear and impactful summaries.
  • You demonstrate discretion, possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and have strong presentation abilities.
  • You are solution-oriented, pragmatic, able to take initiative, and adapt quickly to a changing environment
