Job role
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Investment Accountant to become part of our team at our Bucharest office. The individual will be collaborating with the IFRS9 Competence Center of the Group Accounting and Reporting Hub
The IFRS9 Investments Competence Center ("ICC") ensures the appropriate classification and measurement data delivery for investments in the scope of IFRS 9. The team's main task is to provide expert judgements in connection with the so-called SPPI test for classification of financial assets and the determination of impairments on these instruments. Based on our strong accounting and methodological skills, we have extensive experience in Group Accounting and Reporting ("GAR") in guiding the Group wide IFRS 9 process together with the Allianz Operating Entities ("OEs"). Based on the extensive investment and accounting expertise, we aim at integrating further accounting- and investment-related topics like impairments and the central oversight on this topic.
What will you do
• Provide expert judgement on IFRS 9 classification, measurement as well as impairment requirements for the financial instruments held in the relevant Allianz portfolios and determine their appropriate accounting treatment
• Support the global steering and consistent determination of the investment classification for the Allianz Group in close cooperation with local entities, asset managers and GAR
• Ensure the correct and consistent application of the IFRS 9 impairment requirements (ECL, write-off, POCI) throughout the Allianz Group by centrally steering and monitoring compliance with the respective Group accounting policies
• Update and refine the applicable IFRS accounting guidance under IFRS 9 in agreement with the Allianz Group Accounting Policy Department and the Group auditor (PwC)
• Actively support the improvement of the Central SPPI and Impairment Engines in close alignment with IDS, OEs and GAR
• Foster the implementation of innovative technological solutions, based on artificial intelligence etc.
• Support in projects and special tasks of the Investment Accounting
• Reviews and recommends improvements to the internal control environment in the investment accounting and operations processes
What you bring
• Strong academic background in Accounting, Finance or Banks
• Expertise in accounting for financial instruments with a focus on IFRS 9 classification and measurement as well as impairment requirements
• Experience in working in an international environment (Big4 or similar company) as well as working on local and Group-level with focus on accounting policies
• Fluent in English (German language is a plus)
• Excellent technical and analytical skills, logical in approach and high attention to detail
• Goal-oriented work with a clear focus on the relevant key aspects
• Good user skills MS Office, understanding of data flows
• ACCA, CECCAR or similar diplomas are a plus
