Job role

The Senior Project Portfolio Manager is responsible for assessing, managing and reporting a portfolio of projects or services. Assesses strategic business alignment, manages evaluation of demand, prioritization and approval of projects/services. Monitors portfolio performance including risks and dependencies and ensures appropriate reporting. Ensures the accurate decision making following the project portfolio governance obligations according to the global project portfolio management operating model.

What you will do:

Identify, evaluate and select projects or services, based on business strategy and requested approvals

Plan, monitor, control and report portfolio performance, portfolio risk and escalate issues if necessary, initiate corrective action and/or recommendations

Leveraging tools like ServiceNow - PPM to manage portfolio data, track progress, and generate dashboards for reporting and decision-making.

Assist Project Managers (PMs) during approval process in IRIS (used tool), capture and update all relevant project risks

Align with Project Managers (PMs) to collect information relevant for project closure

Support PPM committees in identification and reporting of project dependencies between Allianz divisions

Ensures the accurate decision making following the project portfolio governance obligations according to the global project portfolio management operating model

Functional lead of Project and Program Managers to build the local project portfolio management capability including project / program management standards, skill and tools

Participates in status reporting sessions on project / program level and provides portfolio oversight to all stakeholders

Providing insights to senior leadership based on portfolio performance

Identifying opportunities to enhance portfolio management processes and implementing best practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness

What you bring:

Extensive Project Portfolio Management Experience: Proven experience in managing complex project portfolios, including planning, prioritization, and execution oversight, ideally in a large, multinational organization.

Strategic Alignment Expertise: Strong ability to align project portfolios with organizational strategic objectives, such as those outlined in Strategic Dialogue (SD) and Planning Dialogue (PD) targets.

Knowledge of Governance and Compliance: Familiarity with project governance frameworks, security standards, and compliance requirements, such as those mentioned in the Enterprise Security Architecture Patterns and IS Practices.

Stakeholder Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including Operating Entities (OEs), business units, and senior leadership, to ensure alignment and effective communication.

Technical Proficiency: Experience with portfolio management tools (e.g., ServiceNow - PPM) and a strong understanding of IT landscapes and integration processes, such as those related to IT solutions in the Allianz environment.

Analytical and Decision-Making Abilities: Strong analytical skills to monitor portfolio performance, generate insights, and support decision-making processes at the senior level.

You have:

Educational Background: A higher education degree or equivalent work experience, preferably in a relevant field such as business, IT, or project management.

Professional Experience: 10+ years of professional experience as a Project/Program Manager or Service (Delivery) Manager, ideally within an international context

Project Management Expertise: Process and project management training and/or certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) are highly desirable, along with governance and service management knowledge.

International Exposure: Experience in managing or participating in international projects and/or consulting engagements is preferred.

Strategic and Analytical Thinking: Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to align projects with organizational goals.

Soft Skills and Leadership: Assertiveness, conflict management skills, and the ability to lead organizational transformation and change initiatives effectively
