About the Job:

 

You are part of our ABS LIFE Team, that is responsible for developing and maintaining the software that handles life-related insurances all around the world. This software is used by  thousands of users on a daily basis (Insurance clerks, Agents, Customers).. The team is in close cooperation with the German teams, so German language knowledge is more than welcome. If you want to improve your Java knowledge with AI-integrated tools, if you are interested to learn about Life insurances and if you are not afraid to work in international teams, than your place is here. You will be working with modern methods, Java 21, Git, Eclipse, Junit, Scrum, Jira, Confluence, Code Reviews, JVoyager, SQL/DbVisualizer and many more.

Here you will have the opportunity to keep pace with the future, as our company strongly supports development with AI — for example GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.

 

What You Do:

  • Gathering, analyzing and checking of functional and technical requirements
  • Implementation of requirements in given technical design
  • Software development in agile teams and input to methods of software engineering
  • Develop, maintain, optimize, and service software or application components
  • Ensure maintainability of developed software
  • Consideration of aspects: Performance, data security , IT security and ergonomics/usability in as part of software development
  • Ensure operational stability of software
  • Collaboration with business experts/analysts and designers

What You Bring:

  • Fluent in written and spoken German (advantage)
  • Completed studies in mathematics or (business) computer science (FH, BA) or comparable qualification
  • At least 5 years experience in the area of object-oriented application development
  • At least 5 years experience with common development environments, test methods and software engineering tools (Eclipse, JUnit, Jira, etc.)
  • Excellent SQL knowledge
  • Very good knowledge of Linux and modern IT infrastructure
  • Ability to work on tasks in a matrix organization: whithin a community of developers and in close collaboration with business analysts in German teams.
  • Ability to work independently, high level of commitment, flexibility and resilience
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Ability to independently execute tasks in non-standard work situations
  • Problem solving skills based on own work experience as well as ability to analyse
  • Quick grasp and conceptual, strategic as well as analytical working skills
