Legal Counsel

Job Summary:
The Legal Counsel will be responsible for counseling the business operations by giving pro-active, professional, competent, (cost) effective and creative legal support. The incumbent will collaborate with the management team and different functions within the company regarding legal risks and other issues related to the company’s businesses. Working closely with the Head of the function, the Legal Counsel is responsible to provide pragmatic, commercially-based, solution-driven legal advise and assistance to Nextcare business and management teams across the Region and its divisions, as well as ensure proper protection of the company’s interest at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing legal advice and support on a wide range of legal activities.
- Drafting and negotiating simple and complex contracts including but not limited to those related to Healthcare providers and Insurance companies, NDA, Confidentiality, outsourcing, employment etc..
- Advising on general business law issues and managing the legal issues of all areas of the company, including but not limited to corporate, procurement, insurance and human resources matters.
- Represent the department as required in liaison with the General Counsel.
- Cooperate with the other members of the legal department.
- Anticipate and manage the legal risks connected with or resulting from the business strategy and operations.
- Secure compliance of business operations with relevant laws and regulations.
- Secure the documentation of all legal documents and correspondences.
- Pro-actively create and maintain awareness of employees for (compliance with) relevant laws and regulations.
- Coordinate litigation with external counsels as needed.
- Work effectively with AI, machine learning, data analytics, and cloud-based tools, adhering to high standards of data governance, security, and ethical use.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law with membership in the Bar association.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a qualified lawyer, either in a law firm or in-house, with a focus on complex legal issues relevant to the insurance industry.
- Physically fit to carry out duties.
- Possess strong analytical skills to evaluate legal issues and provide practical solutions that support business objectives.
- Legally permitted to work in the country of operations.
