Financial Lines Underwriter
Role Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join our successful Regional Financial Lines team at Allianz in Bristol, where you will contribute to building a best-in-industry underwriting function. You will play a key role in driving profitable growth, developing broker relationships, and delivering excellent customer outcomes in a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Location: This role is be based in one of our UK offices, please note that this is a hybrid working role with the expectation that attend the office 40% of your time
Salary Information
Pay: Circa £45,000 per year. This is based on experience, skills, and location and forms part of our total rewards package.
About You
• Underwrite and price new and renewal Financial Lines risks, ensuring profitability and compliance
• Manage broker relationships through regular engagement and broker visits
• Analyse claims data and market trends to inform underwriting decisions
• Chase and secure new business opportunities to support growth targets
• Process renewals and mid-term adjustments in line with service standards
• Issue policy documentation to brokers, ensuring adherence to compliance and regulatory requirements
• Respond to day-to-day broker queries promptly and professionally
• Collaborate with colleagues across underwriting, claims, and other departments to deliver business objectives
• Contribute to implementing bespoke schemes and underwriting strategies
• Support performance targets through strong trading and negotiation practices
Essential Skills
• Experience underwriting new business, with strong trading and negotiation skills
• Ability to build, develop, and maintain successful broker relationships
• Confident decision-making within delegated authority, with appropriate referral handling
• Strong influencing and negotiation capabilities to drive profitable growth
• Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering excellent service
• Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Self-motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative
• Strong communication skills and commercial awareness
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and inform decisions

Desirable Skills
• Experience within Financial Lines underwriting, including Professional Indemnity or Directors & Officers
• Experience handling larger or more complex cases
• Data analysis skills with the ability to provide actionable insights
• Commitment to working towards or achieving CII qualifications
• Ability to identify and implement continuous improvements
• Strong collaboration skills across functions and teams
• Responsible Artificial Intelligence usage
