The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to Head of CAT Risk Analytics and Services, the Expert CAT Risk Analyst will be responsible for identifying and quantifying major accumulation risks to assist in the establishing the appropriate risk mitigation and control mechanisms to ensure the financial solvency of Allianz Commercial. You will apply solid catastrophe modelling techniques, principles and understanding to meet team objectives and will help lead others in these activities. You will be responsible for medium to large size projects and for specific outcomes relating to definition, execution and delivery phases of the project. This position requires a strong background in Reinsurance with direct experience in providing analyses supporting reinsurance placement.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

Serving as in house expert on reinsurance topics, including leading annual modeling activities related to reinsurance placement and renewal and working collaboratively with internal and external reinsurance teams and brokers.

Running catastrophe loss modelling software (natural perils and terrorism) and prepare data extracts and reports for the monitoring of Allianz Commercial global loss potential, including portfolio analyses, CAT limit monitoring (Allianz Group and Allianz Commercial internal limits), supporting global business steering and providing input to ensure adequate reinsurance protection.

Defining scope, agreeing on timeframes and executing deliverables with internal and external clients.

Leading/mentoring others in global loss modelling activities and related analyses, including use of in-depth knowledge of model methodology and function to explain and validate modelled loss output.

Collaborating with CUO LOBs and other relevant functions (Actuarial, Risk Management, Reinsurance, Risk Consulting, Claims, etc.) to support business steering and portfolio management, Solvency II requirements, reinsurance renewals and data quality improvements.

Providing on the spot consultancy and translating/explaining CAT Modeling results and reports to internal stakeholders, including explaining portfolio impact (e.g., from model changes to internal clients).

Training and educating across Allianz Commercial, Allianz Group, as well as clients.

Managing the evaluation process relating to modelling upgrades, GIS applications and other vendor catastrophe loss modelling software., as well as upgrade and change activities, including technical and portfolio impact analyses and documentations.
What You’ll Bring to the Role

A minimum of 5 years of insurance and/or reinsurance experience;

Understanding of underwriting practice for industrial risks and corporate business on a global basis;

Expert knowledge of Catastrophe Modeling and Catastrophe Modeling Software (RMS, AIR, EQECAT) and GIS (Geographical Information Systems) applications ;

Experience with MetaRisk, Igloo, ReMetrica or similar reinsurance modeling software

Project management experience;

Ability to drive results, innovation and change;

Excellent verbal and written communications skills with an ability to communicate with a variety of people across the organization;

Ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks, improve efficiency and contribute to data-driven decision making; and

Degree preferably in Geosciences, Engineering or Mathematics, or other quantitative discipline.

The annualized base pay range for this role is $120,000 to $140,000. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
