The Opportunity
This is a high-impact leadership role at the centre of Allianz Ireland’s commercial growth agenda. Reporting to the Head of Customer – Commercial, you will lead our national broker engagement strategy – owning relationships with key partners, shaping market positioning, and driving profitable, sustainable growth across the commercial portfolio.
You will lead and develop both the Commercial Business Development Executive and Customer Relationship teams, bringing a clear strategic lens to how we engage brokers, differentiate our proposition, and convert market opportunity into performance.
This role offers direct exposure to Executive Leadership and Board-level priorities, with the opportunity to influence how Allianz competes and wins in a rapidly evolving broker-led market.

Key Responsibilities:
- Drive Broker Strategy & Market Presence: Own and evolve Allianz’s broker engagement model to deliver a differentiated, value-led proposition; build deep, trusted relationships with key broker partners while acting as a senior ambassador for the Allianz brand; and represent Allianz at industry forums to strengthen external market presence.
- Deliver Commercial Performance: Lead the delivery of growth and retention targets with a clear focus on sustainable, profitable outcomes; drive business development and conversion in partnership with Underwriting and Distribution teams; and monitor and optimise sales performance to ensure disciplined execution across the portfolio.
- Lead & Develop High-Performing Teams: Inspire and lead the Commercial Development Executive team by embedding a culture of accountability, collaboration and excellence; coach and develop talent to build capability aligned to future commercial needs; and create clarity of purpose and alignment to strategic priorities.
- Shape Strategy & Customer Proposition: Provide market insight and strategic input to Executive Management on emerging trends and opportunities; collaborate across functions to develop customer‑centric propositions informed by broker and client needs; and contribute to shaping Allianz’s delivery for our broker partners.
- Governance & Operational Excellence: Ensure robust compliance with regulatory and internal sales standards; maintain strong oversight of financial performance, cost discipline and operational efficiency; and contribute to cross‑functional initiatives and transformation programmes.
Key Requirements / Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Proven track record delivering profitable growth within General Insurance
- Strong experience managing broker and/or client relationships at a senior level
- Commercially astute with the ability to balance growth ambition and risk discipline
- Highly developed negotiation, influencing and communication skills
- Deep understanding of the Irish insurance market and competitive dynamics
- Professional qualification (CIP, ACII, or equivalent in line with MCC requirements)
Desirable:
- Leadership experience managing and developing high-performing teams
- Strong understanding of financial performance drivers and reporting
- Knowledge of regulation and insurance risk appetite frameworks
- Relevant third-level or postgraduate qualification
- At Allianz Ireland, we are committed to staying at the forefront of technological advancements. Expertise and an understanding of Data Analytics or Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools & technologies would be beneficial.
