The Data Governance and Strategic Data Projects Implementation Manager will lead and oversee AP Health Operations data governance framework, ensuring data quality, compliance, and security. In addition, this role will take ownership of strategic data architecture projects, driving the design, implementation, and optimization AP Health Operations data to support business objectives. The role requires strong leadership, collaboration, and technical expertise to align data governance and architecture initiatives with the Group strategic priorities.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure successful implementation of stream focus data and analysis teams: intelligence reporting stream, insights and analytics stream, governance and projects stream and data science and AI stream.
- Implement sustainable goals for the various functional data teams and ensuring the flow of projects across the data teams.
- Global Prioritization model catalyst: organizing daily activities of the various data functional teams based on the goals of the organization
- Devising new models and initiatives that support the organization’s objectives.
- Ensures the Data is manageable and provides more support to accelerate data-driven digital transformation: Identify areas suitable for process streamlining and automation with the use of Data Tools.
- Responsible for ensuring that team is up-to-date with industry trends, tools, and technologies in the field of Data analysis and insights, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Ensure Compliance with data privacy regulations and maintain data governance standards. (minimizing the risk of regulatory fines).
- Ensure adherence to Group Data practices, policies and standards both at technical and functional level as well as serves as a single point of contact for data quality and governance.
- Serve as a liaison between business and its functional as well as technical areas of the technology and protect the sensitive and confidential data.
- Develop and Implement Data Governance Frameworks:
- Establish and maintain data governance policies, standards, and processes to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Define roles and responsibilities for data ownership and stewardship across the organization.
- Data Quality Management:
- Oversee the development and implementation of data quality metrics and monitoring systems.
- Collaborate with business units to identify and resolve data quality issues.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and internal policies.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to data usage, privacy, and security.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as a liaison between business units, IT, and other stakeholders to promote data governance awareness and adoption.
- Provide training and support to data stewards and other key stakeholders.
- Data Governance Tools and Technology:
- Evaluate and implement tools to support data governance activities, such as metadata management, data lineage, and data cataloging.
- Strategic Data Projects Planning:
- Define and maintain the organization's data architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and IT infrastructure.
- Develop roadmaps for the implementation of data architecture initiatives, including cloud migration, data integration, and advanced analytics platforms.
- Project Management:
- Lead and manage strategic data architecture projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and quality outcomes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Manage and lead the Governance and Projects team across multiple locations, providing guidance, mentorship, and support for their professional growth and development. Encourage collaboration, continuous learning and building a high performing team.
- Be a catalyst for change: influence, lead and motivate a bright and driven team to enhance their quality and productivity output by implementing relevant business process change.
- Responsible for the Unification of Data Reporting and implementation of Data & Analytics Governance and Framework across all AP Health business units and entities.
- Responsible for the integration of AP Health business units into the Global Data & Analytics Model.
- Data Integration of Tools into Datawarehouse to enable streamlining of Data processes and AI initiatives.
- Chair of the Global Functional Expert Data Committee and Academy: establish and managing data projects and overseeing project leads within the Committee to ensure goals are met.
- Responsible for the flow of work from the functional data teams to the Global Functional Expert Data Committee.
- Establish and Responsible for the Governance and Framework of the Global Functional Expert Data Committee.
- Ensure successful integration of Global Data Team Academy employees within Global Data Team Governance and equipping them with better technical skills to increase efficiency and Data related support within their core roles.
- Have a good understanding of operational business stream and underlying profitability drivers and leverage those to provide meaningful recommendations to Operation Leadership & Management.
Requirements
To be successful in this position you will need to have the following skills/ experience:
- Bachelors in a relevant discipline; Mathematical, Statistical or Medical qualification is an advantage
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience with extensive knowledge of Data Analytics, Data projects or Governance role (preferably within the insurance/financial services industry).
- Full English proficiency is required.
- Professional with a sense of mission and with a vision of transformation efforts

- Cross functional knowledge and awareness with ability to “join the dots” when providing insights and analytics
- Ability to simplify complex topics and analysis in order to provide meaningful insights to senior leadership in order to inform strategic decisions
- Advance experience with Microsoft Office products; SAS, R, M, Alteryx, Power BI or Qlik Sense BI knowledge is a plus
