Job Purpose
The Financial Accountant will be responsible for providing timely and accurate financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders, supporting the month end processes, regulatory returns, and internal Allianz Group reporting.
The Financial Accountant is pro-actively driving the aforementioned processes and provides expert input to it. The Financial Accountant is a key point of contact in the Accounting team and supports colleagues in their development. The Financial Accountant understands the underlying business processes and is able to define the required accounting/tax/reporting treatment.
The role is within a continuously growing accounting team and provides plenty of opportunity to grow and develop in the field of reinsurance.

Key Responsibilities
- Working under different accounting regimes: IFRS17, Solvency II / MVBS, German local GAAP
- Maintaining general ledger and sub-ledgers
- Manage work assignments independently from start to completion
- Supporting the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Supporting the year-end external audit by responding to auditors’ requests for information and documentation, providing input to and reviewing the Company’s Financial Statements;
- Supporting Solvency II regulatory reporting (input, review, testing of QRTs)
- Supporting and delivering on internal audit requests
- Supporting ongoing compliance with ICOFR/IRCS to ensure integrity of Financial Statements
- Collaborating in a global team and managing relationship with different internal and external stakeholders including Allianz Group, Allianz Re SE, cedents, vendors, banks, clients, local authorities etc. as required
- Supporting management reporting for local committees and Board Meetings, as required
- Defining and solving problems independently
Qualification
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified accountant
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
Experience & Key skills
- Relevant working experience (2+ years post qualification) in the financial services sector – preference given to Big 4 audit firms and/or (re-)insurance
- Solid understanding of IFRS17 and its practical implementation
- Previous knowledge of SAP favoured
- Previous knowledge of Solvency II strongly preferred
- Strong analytical skills and curiosity to expand own field of expertise
- Experience of coordinating and delivering accurate output with multiple deadlines
- Highly motivated and used to working in a self-organized way
- Solid understanding of IFRS17 and its practical implementation
