The Opportunity

Allianz Reinsurance is seeking a Reinsurance Finance Analyst to join their finance team. The roles requires a finance professional (reinsurance/insurance) with a structured, analytical mindset and the ambition to help shape how finance processes work, not simply operate them. The role sits at the intersection of reinsurance accounting, business understanding, and process improvement, with a strong focus on challenging existing ways of working and building better, more scalable solutions.

The role holder will collaborate and contribute as part of a global team, working closely with internal and external stakeholders including cedents, retrocessionaries, vendors, banks and local authorities. A key part of the role is to understand the underlying reinsurance transactions, connect commercial substance with accounting, tax and reporting requirements, and translate this into robust, efficient and well-controlled processes.

This position is suited to someone who enjoys change, takes ownership, asks thoughtful questions and is motivated by making things better. The role is within a continuously growing reinsurance company and provides strong opportunities to develop across finance, reinsurance and transformation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of accurate, well-controlled accounting and reporting outputs for reinsurance business under different accounting and regulatory regimes, including IFRS 17 and Solvency II.

  • Understand how the commercial and technical characteristics of reinsurance transactions are reflected in accounting, tax, regulatory and reporting treatments across different regimes.

  • Analyse reinsurance structures, data flows and operational processes to ensure that accounting and reporting processes reflect the economic substance of the underlying business.

  • Challenge existing processes, identify weaknesses or inefficiencies, and drive practical improvements that increase quality, transparency, control and scalability.

  • Take ownership of complex topics from problem definition through to implementation, working independently while keeping colleagues and stakeholders appropriately involved.

  • Contribute to finance transformation initiatives, including process documentation, data analytics, automation and the sensible use of AI or digital tools where they support better outcomes.

  • Collaborate and contribute in a global team, managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Allianz Group, Allianz Re SE, cedents, retrocessionaries and local authorities.

  • Support management reporting for local committees and Board meetings, translating complex technical matters into clear, decision-useful information.

  • Support day to day activities as part of a reinsurance finance team.

Key Requirements / Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Relevant experience in reinsurance/insurance finance is essential, preferably gained in accounting, while strong candidates from actuarial, controlling or financial reporting will also be considered.

  • Experience with IFRS 17, Solvency II,  and reinsurance accounting  is strongly preferred.

  • Strong technical and quantitative background, with the ability to understand complex reinsurance structures, data flows and financial impacts.

  • Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to question existing processes, identify root causes and develop practical solutions.

  • Comfortable working with data and tools (including AI) such as Excel; experience with Power BI, automation or workflow tools would be an advantage.

  • Highly motivated, self-organised and comfortable taking responsibility in an environment where priorities, processes and requirements continue to evolve.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly and work constructively across teams, functions and locations.

Desirable:

  • At Allianz Reinsurance, we are committed to embracing innovation and the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive innovation and business success. We are seeking candidates who demonstrate curiosity, adaptability and have a proactive approach to learning and development. An awareness of AI-powered tools, data-driven decision making and data analysis will be highly valued.
