The Opportunity

The role is within the Allianz Technical Product Team, reporting to the Technical Portfolio Manager – Retail. 

The purpose of the role is to assist in the development, communication, and maintenance of underwriting policy and procedures and monitoring adherence to relevant Group and Regulatory Rules. This is a unique opportunity to pursue a career in a technical underwriting role. This role will support  Home, Private Motor, LCV and Pet portfolios. 

This role is a hybrid role and can be fulfilled mainly remotely, with attendance in the office Allianz House, Elmpark, Merrion Road, Dublin 4 agreed in advance on an occasional basis

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, communicate and maintain underwriting policy and procedures.
  • Design and maintenance of Retail (Personal Lines) insurance products
  • Lead and represent project based initiatives including;
    • System re-platforming
    • onboarding of new propositions /  services
    • development of new propositions
  • Understand and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements such as the Consumer Protection and Data Protection codes. 
  • Conduct scheduled reviews and refreshes of policy documentation, including proposal forms, statements of fact, schedules, underwriting guides, and policy summaries.
  • Design and conduct training for stakeholders following major policy refreshes to ensure that all changes are clearly understood.
  • Serve as an escalation point for technical referrals from Operational Underwriting Teams, Distribution Teams,  Market Management  and Claims Teams.
  • Monitor adherence to underwriting procedures and manage breaches where they arise.
  • Adjudicate on complaints, including FSO complaints.  Ensure that complaints are recorded and addressed in line with agreed procedures
  • Proactively engage and ensure open and ongoing communications with all stakeholders.
  • Be proactive in identifying ways to improve products, processes and procedures to help make us more efficient and effective in what we do.

 

Key Requirements / Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • APA, CIP, ACII or FCII qualified
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the insurance industry dealing with Motor Insurance and/or Home Insurance lines of business
  • Excellent communication  and negotiation skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of quality and efficiency
  • Ability to work on own initiative

Desirable:

  • A relevant third level or professional qualification
  • Experience of Motor / Home / Pet Insurance
  • Experience of having served as an escalation point in respect of technical queries
  • Experience in communication to, and leadership of, people or teams
  • Experience in dealing with customers and formulating high quality written responses
  • Experience of having been part of a project team in implementing business initiative
