Allianz Re Dublin dac (ARD) is a key subsidiary of Allianz Re and plays a vital role in supporting Allianz Re's global reinsurance operations. Its primary functions include underwriting reinsurance business, managing risk transfer, and optimizing capital efficiency for the Group.

Following the successful implementation of IFRS 17, we are seeking an experienced actuarial professional to join our actuarial team. The position is organisationally located in Dublin with its main focus being to play an integrated role in the global actuarial function of Allianz Re, whilst maintaining a special focus on areas of relevance for Allianz Re Dublin dac.

 

Role Summary

The position will report to the Head of Actuarial Function of Allianz Re Dublin dac. Beside involvement in all aspects of the quarterly and annual actuarial reporting processes for IFRS 17 and Solvency II, the role will have particular focus on the development and production of IFRS 17 actuarial figures for local reporting. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including finance, risk and underwriting, to ensure the accurate valuation of insurance liabilities, financial reporting, and alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary actuarial subject matter expert on IFRS 17, providing guidance and thought leadership on all aspects of its compliance and ongoing application
  • Take ownership of complex IFRS 17 topics, including financial reporting, actuarial assessments, and disclosures, while addressing and resolving challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Develop processes and valuation models for actuarial input for IFRS 17 accounts for local and group reporting
  • Involvement in quarterly and year-end closing process (IFRS and Solvency II)
  • Develop, review, interpret and / or summarise financial results / projections
  • Active participation in developing / streamlining the future global reserving process
  • Mentor junior colleagues, sharing your expertise to build their IFRS 17 / SII technical skills
  • Represent the organization as a recognized leader in IFRS 17, supporting communication with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. senior management, external auditors, local regulator)
  • Support the risk function as required, e.g. involvement in capital modelling analyses
  • Lead special projects as assigned

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

  • Actuarial qualification (SAI, IFoA, DAV, ACAS or similar), or close to achieving actuarial qualification
  • 5+ years of P&C actuarial reserving experience, reinsurance experience is an advantage
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of IFRS 17 and Solvency II principles, methodologies and reporting requirements
  • Strong Excel/SQL/Access skills, SAS and ResQ experience an advantage
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work under time pressure to meet deadlines, while retaining attention to detail
  • Ability to work as a team player within a global multi-cultural team environment
  • Advanced command of written and spoken English is required
