We are a Data and Analytics team supporting Allianz Engineering Inspection through analytics, reporting and data products. As the UK’s largest Engineering Inspection business, we have a strong opportunity to modernise legacy data and systems and create greater value through transformation. This role sits at the centre of that transformation, helping us improve how data is used to support better decisions, stronger processes and more effective ways of working.

 

As a Lead Data Analyst, you will play a key role in driving the Engineering Inspection transformation agenda through data, insight and process improvement. You will help shape and deliver transformational initiatives, working with stakeholders to modernise reporting and analytics, improve data quality, embed new ways of working and unlock greater value from data across the function. Alongside this, you will provide support for core business-as-usual activities, ensuring operational insight remains robust while the wider transformation programme progresses.

 

This is a hybrid role based in our Guildford office.

 

Salary Information

 

Pay: Circa £50,000 per year

 

Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

 

About You

 

  • Support the delivery of the Engineering Inspection transformation agenda by defining analysis, insight and data-led recommendations that help shape priorities, improve processes and enable more effective ways of working across the function.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the business to understand requirements, translate business needs into analytical outputs and deliver reporting and insight that supports both transformation initiatives and day-to-day operational activity.
  • Improve reporting, data quality and data processes, while contributing to the Engineering Inspection data strategy and helping embed stronger data-driven decision-making, data literacy and continuous improvement across the team.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across IT, data and business teams in the UK and wider Allianz Group to support change delivery, identify opportunities for greater efficiency and turn analysis into clear recommendations and measurable business outcomes.
  • Support the development of agile ways of working and a mature approach to delivering value through data and analytics, ensuring the team can balance transformation priorities with ongoing business-as-usual demand.

 

Essential Skills

 

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

 

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with proven experience building relationships, influencing at all levels, and presenting insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • strong ability to engage with business and/or technical teams, acting as a bridge between stakeholders and data/analytical functions.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a project environment or managing large workstreams, with the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders.
  • highly organised and results-driven approach, able to prioritise effectively, manage changing demands and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Solid data and analytical knowledge, which may come from either a data-focused or business environment, including experience working with data analysts or analytical teams.
  • Experience contributing to or leading analytical delivery, ensuring high standards in data and insight generation.
  • Practical experience using analytics and visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy or similar, including data extraction, manipulation and analysis.
  • A good understanding of data governance principles, including the appropriate use and storage of data.
  • strong work ethic and proactive mindset, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • A degree in a numerate or analytical subject (e.g. Computer Science, Business Analytics, Data Science, Maths, Economics, Physics) or equivalent experience demonstrating numerical competence.

 

Desirable Skills

 

  • Experience in leading data value management activities (Data governance, data quality, data ownership etc.)
  • Database concepts and tools.
  • Programming skills such as Python for data analysis and automation.
  • Thorough understanding of probability and statistics.
  • Understanding of Responsible AI principles.
