Role Description

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Portfolio Analyst to join our Engineering Inspection business (AEIS), with a primary focus on the Engineering Inspection account.

 

You’ll be responsible for the development, production, and analysis of data – using the appropriate data feeds – to create actionable insights for the Inspection Team. You will also deliver recommendations to support the profitable management of the Inspection account by recommending pricing changes for both new business and renewals.

 

This is a hybrid role based in our Guildford office, with the expectation to be on-site two days per week.

 

Salary Information

 

Pay: Circa £34,000 per year. Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

 

About You

 

  • Taking ownership of data analysis and insights to identify internal and external trends impacting the inspection business and performance.
  • Leading the reporting and analysis of the Engineering Inspection Account to generate actionable insights that inform account strategy.
  • Collaborating with the Inspection Account Manager to produce the annual revenue plan.
  • Supporting the Inspection Account Manager with pricing changes and analysis
  • Supporting the Special Services Manager with planning and pricing analysis through insightful data interpretation.
  • Producing and maintaining reports that ensure the portfolio mix aligns with strategic goals and supports growth and profitability targets.
  • Interpreting and preparing data for monthly results meetings, highlighting key trends, reviewing team feedback, and proposing strategic actions.
  • Developing and delivering new reports to meet emerging data needs as new pricing methodologies are introduced.

 

Essential Skills

 

  • A degree in a mathematics-based discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and explain insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to work independently, taking ownership of tasks and driving them through to completion.
  • Proactive in identifying opportunities, solving problems, and responding to evolving business needs.
  • Experience in data manipulation, visualisation, and reporting to deliver actionable business insights.
  • High attention to detail when preparing and presenting data-driven reports.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for analysis and reporting.

Desirable Skills

 

  • Commercial awareness and understanding of the UK insurance market.
  • Experience working in a general insurance environment with responsibility for performance or results delivery.
  • Exposure to data science tools or advanced analytical techniques.
  • Progress towards ACII qualification or similar professional accreditation.
  • Completion of, or progression towards, Financial Principles and Pricing Techniques modules.
  • Strong financial acumen with an understanding of key underwriting concepts and principles.
