Integration Lead_1916
IN
The Integration Technical Lead is a technical role responsible for architecting, implementing, and governing end-to-end integration solutions across Allianz's insurance business domains — including P&C Retail, Commercial, Health, and Life. The role combines deep hands-on expertise in modern integration technologies with strong delivery management, cross-functional stakeholder collaboration, and technical leadership to ensure all integration initiatives are delivered on time, to quality, and in alignment with Allianz's architectural standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Integration Design & Development
- Lead the end-to-end design and development of integration solutions, ensuring full alignment with business objectives, insurance domain workflows, and Allianz technical standards.
- Define and maintain integration mapping between applications, including source-to-target data mappings, message transformation rules, and canonical data models.
- Apply and enforce integration best practices and patterns — synchronous REST/SOAP APIs, asynchronous messaging (Kafka, MQ), event-driven architecture, and webhook-based integrations.
- Oversee the creation and continuous maintenance of technical documentation: integration guides, API specifications (OpenAPI/AsyncAPI), sequence diagrams, and data dictionaries.
- Ensure integration solutions meet security requirements including OAuth 2.0, SAML, mTLS, and API gateway policies.
2. Integration Delivery Management
- Define detailed integration timelines, milestones, and delivery plans in alignment with overall programme schedules.
- Continuously track integration delivery progress and proactively report status, risks, and blockers to leadership via structured dashboards and governance forums.
- Maintain an integration delivery register, tracking each interface from design through testing to production deployment.
- Identify and escalate delivery impediments early, coordinating resolution across workstreams to avoid programme-level delays.
3. Technical Leadership & Mentorship
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship to integration developers and engineers.
- Collaborate with enterprise architects, domain architects, and other technical leads to ensure cross-programme integration consistency and reuse.
- Champion innovation by evaluating emerging integration technologies (e.g., AsyncAPI, GraphQL Federation, event mesh) and driving adoption where appropriate.
- Establish and enforce integration standards, coding guidelines, and governance frameworks across the integration team.
4. Workstream & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as the primary integration point of contact for all workstreams; facilitate collaborative working sessions to clarify integration requirements and unblock dependencies.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and project managers to gather integration requirements, validate solution designs, and agree on interface contracts.
- Bridge the communication gap between technical integration teams and non-technical stakeholders — translating complex technical concepts into clear business language.
- Enable blocked workstreams by coordinating with other stakeholders (infrastructure, security, vendors, external parties) to resolve integration impediments promptly.
5. End-to-End Flow Coverage & Quality Assurance
- Maintain continuous focus on end-to-end integration flow coverage — ensuring no interface is left undocumented, untested, or unmonitored.
- Define and enforce quality standards for all integration components, covering functional correctness, performance SLAs, reliability, error handling, and security compliance.
- Oversee integration testing strategies: unit, integration, contract (consumer-driven), regression, and performance testing.
- Implement and monitor integration observability — logging, tracing, alerting, and SLA dashboards in production environments.
6. Continuous Improvement
- Proactively monitor integration platform performance; identify, prioritise, and drive optimisation opportunities.
- Stay abreast of industry trends in integration, API management, and event-driven architecture to continuously enhance Allianz's integration capabilities.
- Contribute to the maturity of integration practices by introducing tooling improvements, automation, and reusable assets.
Qualifications & Skills
Insurance Domain Expertise (Essential)
- Strong, hands-on experience working within the Insurance domain — with deep understanding of at least two of: P&C Retail, Commercial Lines, Health, and Life insurance.
- Familiarity with core insurance concepts: policy lifecycle, claims processing, underwriting, reinsurance, product configuration, and regulatory reporting.
- Experience integrating with insurance platforms and ecosystem components such as policy administration systems, claims management systems, billing engines, and broker portals.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in integration technologies: RESTful APIs, SOAP, GraphQL, Kafka, JMS/MQ messaging systems, and event streaming platforms.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise integration platforms such as MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, Azure Integration Services (API Management, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid), or equivalent.
- Proficiency in API-first design principles, OpenAPI/Swagger specifications, and API lifecycle management via tools such as Apigee or Azure APIM.
- Knowledge of integration patterns: request-reply, publish-subscribe, saga, CQRS, event sourcing, and data replication patterns.
- Understanding of security standards for integrations: OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML 2.0, mTLS, JWTs, and API gateway security policies.
- Experience with data governance, schema management (e.g., Confluent Schema Registry), and data quality controls in integration pipelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for integration deployments (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, ArgoCD).
- Familiarity with cloud-native integration solutions, containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes), and microservices architecture.
- Exposure to Allianz-specific technical standards, architecture governance processes, and enterprise tooling is a strong advantage.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., MuleSoft Certified Developer, Azure Integration Services Specialty, Confluent Certified Kafka Developer) are desirable.
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-system integration issues under time pressure.
- Strong communication skills — able to present technical topics clearly to senior leadership and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent delivery workstreams in a fast-paced, matrixed organisation.
- Collaborative, outcome-focused mindset with a track record of enabling teams to succeed through facilitation and removing blockers.
