Role Overview

The Java Technical Architect is responsible for driving end-to-end solution architecture, producing high-quality designs (HLD/LLD), ensuring adherence to SDLC standards, and enabling scalable, secure, and high-performance Java-based platforms.
This role partners with cross-functional stakeholders, governs engineering practices, and ensures readiness for production deployments across distributed systems.

Experience

  • 10+ years hands-on Java/Spring engineering experience.
  • 3–5+ years as architect/tech lead with strong system design & integration expertise.
  • Proven experience in performance tuning, JVM internals, query optimization, and distributed architecture.
  • Agile/Scrum delivery experience within globally distributed teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce HLD/LLD, architectural blueprints, and reference implementations for complex systems.
  • Conduct design/code reviews; ensure adherence to design principles and best practices.
  • Own non-functional requirements (NFRs) such as performance, resilience, security, scalability, and observability.
  • Govern SDLC standards, coding guidelines, quality gates, CI/CD/DevSecOps pipelines, and cloud/container strategies.
  • Define API integration patterns, messaging strategies, and microservices architecture.
  • Partner with technical and business stakeholders to translate needs into solution roadmaps.
  • Ensure production readiness: capacity planning, DR/HA strategies, SLO/SLA definitions.

Required Technical Skills

  • Advanced Java (Java 11/17+), Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, JPA/Hibernate.
  • REST API design, microservices architecture, API gateways, OAuth2/OIDC security.
  • Messaging: Kafka, RabbitMQ, or event-driven architectures.
  • Oracle/PostgreSQL SQL expertise; schema design; performance tuning.
  • DevOps tools: Git, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins; Docker, Kubernetes awareness.
  • Observability: ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, distributed tracing.
  • Good experience in using Github copilot, Claude code or other AI tools

Good-to-Have Skills

 

  • Experience in insurance/financial services domain.
  • Cloud architecture exposure: AWS/Azure/GCP.
  • Knowledge of service mesh, circuit breakers, resilience patterns and exposure to AI tool.
