Job Purpose

Independently plan, lead, perform and manage Actuarial-related audits across Operating Entities and all relevant lines of business within the Asia Pacific region

Future Challenges

  1. Strengthen a regional audit centre of expertise that is trusted and respected by both the business and audit community
  2. Coach regional audit community to achieve minimum baseline knowledge of Actuarial
  3. Identify and coach selected auditors with sufficient skill and motivation to execute independently (or with minimal support) Actuarial audits

 

What you do

  1. Plans, executes and performs risk assessments for audits of actuarial functions across Life, P&C and Health, including Corporate Actuarial and Pricing, as well as related audit areas under CFO area such as Regulatory Reporting including IFRS 17, Qualitative Risk Management, Tax and Capital Management, Risk Capital and Risk Figures Calculation, Technical Product Controlling, Reinsurance, and Investment Management.
  2. Performs and supervises two or more audits concurrently, where required
  3. Maintains effective working relationships with the C-suite (in the CFO and Technical Product areas) across all Operating Entities (including regional stakeholders) and lines of business
  4. Monitors Operating Entities developments through regular interactions with regional and Operating Entities Chief Actuaries and product/pricing teams, and reflects these insights in the Actuarial audit risk assessment  
  5. As regional audit subject-matter expert, provides inputs to Actuarial related audit reports/submissions and be a point of reference for questions from the regional audit community
  6. Provides consultative support for Actuarial regional projects, while maintaining Internal Audit’s independence and objectivity

 

What you bring

  1. Bachelor level education in an Actuarial Science and/or quantitative discipline (i.e. Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics).
  2. Professional actuarial qualification or substantial progress toward qualification with a recognised actuarial body.
  3. More than 5 years of actuarial experience, and preferably with internal/external audit or actuarial consulting experience
  4. Strong technical (actuarial) and ethical characteristics 
  5. Ability to see the "big picture" while remaining curious and driven  
  6. Ability to deal effectively with a variety of people and business situations 
  7. Trusted partner to the business 
  8. Open-minded, a good listener and able to empathize with the auditee and understand the situation from their perspective
  9. Good verbal and written communication skills - to tactfully bring across the audit issues both verbally and in the audit report  
  10. Proficient in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and PowerPoint & AI Skills e.g. ChatGPT, CoPilot, Claude etc
  11. Fluency in English, Mandarin, Bahasa, or Thai would be an advantage
  12. Knowledge and understanding of finance, risk management, reinsurance and asset/investment management
  13. Prior exposure to IFRS17 and Solvency II requirements would be an advantage  
  14. Experience in performing audits of Corporate Actuarial, Actuarial Pricing, Risk Capital Calculation, Technical Product Controlling and Reinsurance Management
