Are you a qualified medical doctor looking to extend your clinical impact beyond the hospital? Allianz Partners Malaysia is hiring a Senior Medical Advisor to join our Global Medical Services team in Kuala Lumpur. In this senior, doctor-only role, you will apply your medical expertise to complex international health insurance cases — leading pre-authorisations, managing medical evacuations, driving cost containment, and mentoring a team of clinical professionals. No bedside practice required.

 

What You'll Do

  • Lead pre-authorisation of inpatient treatments and manage complex, high-cost cases
  • Serve as subject matter expert for standard and tailored international health insurance policy terms
  • Manage medical evacuations and repatriations to a high standard
  • Identify cost containment opportunities and coach team members to do the same
  • Conduct and support monthly clinical audits; maintain satisfactory audit scores
  • Meet SLA requirements for medical claim reviews
  • Manage Emergency Committee (EC) cases in conjunction with the medical team
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and medical providers
  • Drive process efficiencies, quality controls, and team capability improvements
  • Provide clinical consultation to internal teams including Care Operations, Underwriting, and Actuarial

 

What You'll Bring

  • Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) — this role is open to qualified medical doctors only
  • Minimum 5 years of post-graduate clinical experience; ER or internal medicine background is an advantage
  • Experience in international health insurance, medical assistance, or managed care is strongly preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment with the ability to balance medical appropriateness and cost-effectiveness
  • Proven ability to mentor junior clinical colleagues and lead quality assurance processes
  • Fluent English; Malay, Mandarin, and/or Cantonese is a plus
  • Eligible to work in Malaysia

 

Working Hours & Location

  • Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days WFH
  • Office: UOA Centre, Jalan Pinang, KLCC, Kuala Lumpur
  • 5 days/week within a 7-day operation (07:00–22:00)
  • Rotation to early/late shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required
  • Two consecutive days off per roster
