The role will be part of the Actuarial, Planning & Controlling team, reporting to the Head of Actuarial & Planning.
He/she will carry out an actuarial reserving role for the Property & Casualty (P&C) business which includes data manipulation, assumption and methodology setting, reserve calculation and reporting.
He/she will also have a wider responsibility (up to 25% of time) on Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) which includes budgeting, forecasting and monitoring of business plan, providing insightful analysis on variances and trends, and preparation and presentation of results to key stakeholders.
Whilst working under supervision and guidance of senior team members, he/she will be expected to take a more leading role in performing various tasks, providing an excellent opportunity for individual seeking to step up in his/her career.
Key Responsibility Areas:
Actuarial:
· P&C valuation under Singapore RBC framework and IFRS17, including data manipulation, assumption and
methodology setting, reserve calculation, fulfilling internal, Group and MAS reporting requirements, and preparation
of reports and slide decks.
· Solvency and capital adequacy calculation under Singapore RBC framework
· Work closely with other Finance team members on financial reporting matters for Singapore
· Production of key dashboards and reports in a timely manner for internal stakeholders
· Conduct portfolio deep dives, experience analysis and ad-hoc analysis to identify trends and insights for
management
· Conduct UAT on system developments especially when developments are feeding into actuarial processes and
calculations.
· Carry out reinsurance reporting and billings
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
· Assist in the budgeting and forecasting of the annual business plan for Singapore, closely monitoring the budget and
performance against plan on a monthly basis, highlighting trend and variances
· Support the Planning & Controlling function where needed to deliver insightful, actionable and business-oriented
analysis and reports to Management, Regional Finance and to Group
· Preparation of management reporting, P&L and BS analysis, analysing financial performance, and liaising with the
relevant business to provide meaningful commentaries
· Perform detailed expense analysis to support the expense allocation under IFRS17
Capabilities and Qualifications:
· Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or any other related quantitative fields
· Good progress with actuarial exams from recognised International Actuarial Bodies
· 3 - 6 years of experience working in P&C company in an actuarial valuation role. Financial Planning & Analysis
(FP&A) exposure is a plus, but not necessary.
· Willingness to apply actuarial skillset and broaden exposure beyond traditional actuarial valuation role
· Strong understanding of key P&C insurance actuarial technical concepts as well as P&C insurance P&L, balance
sheet and financials
· Strong analytical and numerical skills
· High standards of accuracy and precision, good attention to detail, and highly organized
· Good time management skills, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently
· Strong communication skills and stakeholder management ability with ability to influence without authority
· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, in particular Excel and Power Point
