Claims Examiner - Marine Claims

Job Summary

To conduct comprehensive assessment, investigation and management of Marine Claims, including policy coverage determination, liability assessment, recovery evaluation, negotiations and settlement of claims, whilst ensuring fair outcomes, cost effectiveness and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and manage Marine Claims by reviewing claim notifications, supporting documents and applicable policy terms and conditions.
• Coordinate with surveyors, adjusters, brokers and other stakeholders to facilitate timely assessment and resolution of Marine claims.
• Review survey reports and supporting documentation and other relevant information to assess liability and quantum.
• Establish and maintain accurate claim reserves in accordance with internal guidelines.
• Process claim settlements and ensure timely closure of claims.
• Identify and pursue recovery opportunities against responsible third parties where applicable.
• Monitor outstanding claims and follow up on pending documentation, reports and recovery actions
• Respond to claim enquiries and provide timely updates on claim progress

Key Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in any discipline. Candidates with qualifications in Insurance, Law, or Maritime-related fields will have an added advantage.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Prior experience in insurance or claims handling would be an added advantage.
• Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive, detail-oriented and customer-focused
• Familiar with the use of AI tools such as ChatGPT for tasks simplification
