This position sits in the Accounting & Reporting team reporting to the Head of Accounting & Reporting. The position will be part of the team responsible for the preparation of timely and accurate financial and regulatory reports to internal and external stakeholders.
In particular, this position has a big focus on the accounting treatment of investment holdings as well as supporting the finance treasury function to ensure sufficient liquidity and optimise return on excess cash.
The candidate will also be involved in the coordination and successful of implementation of finance related projects including process improvement initiatives, onboarding of new finance systems or solutions.
Responsibilities:
· Delivering on accounting and reporting deliverables (Group, local statutory and regulatory) in accordance with
local/international accounting standards and group policies
· Entering or reviewing investment trade entries into the accounting system.
· Responsible for the reconciliation of investment assets holdings.
· Responsible for the production and submission of investment related regulatory and group submissions and surveys
and support the wider team with other non-investment related regulatory and group submissions.
· Liaise with external auditors, tax agents and tax authorities, to ensure that annual accounts, income tax and GST
returns are submitted on time and in accordance with requirements
· Drive and lead projects such as End to End Investment Reporting process setup and troubleshooting, S/4 Accounting
system, Policy Core system migration etc and process improvement initiatives
· Manage key relationships with banks / custodians as required and be responsible for bank related administration
such as onboarding new banks/ bank account, KYC and sourcing for financial solutions for return on excess cash.
· Manage key relationship with brokers, fund managers and custodian on reporting issues and connections. As
required resolve operational issues arising.
· Manage the treasury activities of the Company, ensuring liquidity and optimisation of investment returns on excess
cash.
· Maintain up-to-date processes, workflows, and SOPs, ensuring adherence with processes and controls
· Liaise with regional and group counterparts to ensure compliance of accounting treatments, processes and controls
and provide reports as required. This include being the lead person in discussion on approvals for complicated
accounting treatment.
· Other ad-hoc responsibilities as assigned
Capabilities and Qualifications:
· Degree in Accountancy and Finance or equivalent
· At least 5 years of relevant experience with an insurer, preferably in the General Insurance business.
· Able to work independently with minimal supervision, attention to detail and good team player
· Strong problem solving, analytical and communication skills
· Experience in local reporting regime and SAP financial accounting system will be advantageous
· Good progress in accounting qualifications (CPA, ACCA) is an advantage.
