Technical Manager, Special Schemes & Tender Unit

Job Summary

Allianz General is building a dedicated Special Schemes & Tender Unit to unlock growth from tenders and scheme‑based opportunities. As Technical Manager, you are the unit’s underwriting and pricing “engine”— shaping competitive, profitable terms at speed so we can win more bids and scale the portfolio toward our multi‑year ambition.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead technical strategy and Pricing

• Own pricing, underwriting, rates and terms for scheme/tender cases, with a clear mandate to balance competitiveness and profitability.
• Design benefits, clauses and terms tailored to each scheme’s needs

Win tenders with speed and precision

• Partner with the Unit Lead and Operations to deliver fast, compliant submissions—meeting tight tender timelines and documentation requirements
• Apply flexible rating capabilities to configure offerings across different benefit sets without compromising controls and comply with Company and Group’s requirements.

Guard profitability and governance

• Drive continuous portfolio profitability through pricing discipline, risk selection, and post‑bind analytics (claims trends, loss ratio), with clear actions.
• Obtain approvals in line with company/group guidelines; document decisions and maintain systematic records for audit readiness.
• Act as the key liaison on underwriting matters with the Underwriting function; collaborate with Allianz Life on group employee benefits.  
• Support the unit’s pitches by translating technical propositions into clear, client‑ready value.
• Any other duties as and when required.

Key Requirements

• Candidate must possess at least Bachelor ‘s Degree, Professional Degree in any discipline
• More than 5 years of working experience in similar role in general insurance industry
• Proven underwriting/pricing acuity and the ability to work independently toward targets
• Result-driven, able to achieve the targets assigned, and able to work independently
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to partner with intermediaries and internal stakeholders
• Well verse in both verbal and written communication skills
• Familiar with the use of AI tools such as ChatGPT for tasks simplication
