Role Description
You will lead regional delivery of underwriting and product strategy, ensuring consistent, high-quality execution that drives profitable growth and strong portfolio performance. This is a senior leadership role with significant impact across UK Markets, developing people leaders while embedding underwriting excellence into day-to-day operations.
Location: This role is based in our Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds or Birmingham office, please note that this is a hybrid working role with the expectation to attend the office 2-3 days a week.

Pay is dependent on experience, skills and location and is part of our total reward package.
About You
•Implement and embed product and underwriting strategy across your teams, ensuring alignment to appetite, standards and authority
•Monitor portfolio and account performance, identifying trends, risks and opportunities and recommending actions
•Partner with Distribution to support go-to-market delivery, providing technical insight and underwriting assurance
•Act as a senior referral point, ensuring adherence to underwriting standards, governance and escalation processes
•Lead and develop Product Underwriting Managers, driving performance, engagement and succession planning
•Build a culture of accountability, technical excellence and continuous improvement across underwriting teams
•Work with Underwriting Enablement to embed training, tools and frameworks, identifying capability gaps and development needs
•Support and embed continuous improvement and change initiatives into business-as-usual underwriting operations
•Translate product and underwriting intent into effective regional execution and performance insight
•Ensure underwriting discipline supports strong customer outcomes and sustainable financial performance
Essential Skills
•Senior technical underwriting expertise with authority to act as a referral point for complex risks
•Strong analytical capability to interpret portfolio, KPI and performance data and provide actionable insight
•Deep understanding of underwriting standards, appetite, governance and regulatory requirements
•Proven ability to apply underwriting controls consistently and understand commercial impacts on performance
•Strong technical knowledge of policy wordings, clauses and non-standard covers
•Experience leading leaders, developing capability and driving team performance
•Ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders across underwriting, product and distribution
•Strong communication skills, translating strategy into clear, practical delivery
•Ability to operate effectively in complex, changing environments while maintaining control and performance
Desirable Skills
•ACII qualification (or working towards) and relevant underwriting accreditations
•Experience supporting product development, segmentation and improvement activity
•Proven track record delivering portfolio performance improvement and underwriting excellence
•Experience embedding change into live underwriting environments
•Exposure to multi-product or complex underwriting structures
•Responsible Artificial Intelligence usage
