Captive Fronting Underwriting Technician
London, GB, EC2N 3AR
Let’s care for tomorrow.
Your ambitions. Your dreams. Your tomorrow
At Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty SE (AGCS), we are the global leader for insuring corporate and specialty risks in the Allianz Group. Whether it’s aircraft, the world’s biggest ships and tallest building, cyber-attacks or climate change impacts, AGCS has the major risks covered when it comes to protecting businesses.
We are looking for a Captive Fronting Underwriting Technician to join our Alternative Risk Transfer team based in London
Your Team
The Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) team is part of Allianz Commercial and creates tailored insurance solutions for corporate clients facing risks that go beyond what traditional insurance covers. We work with companies across a wide range of industries — helping them manage complex, often hard-to-place risks through creative, long-term programs. ART is a growing part of the business, and our team works closely together across underwriting, deal services, and claims to deliver for our clients. It's a great environment to continue to build your technical insurance skills and learn something new every day.
The Impact You Will Have
This role sits at the heart of how we manage the servicing and finance aspects of our Global Captive Fronting Underwriting (GCFU) portfolio. You'll work closely with GCFU Program Managers and Subject Matter Experts to make sure pre and post close activities, with special focus to finance related ones to ensure KPIs are met — acting as the key link between several teams including AGCS Multinational, ART's Global Captive Underwriting team, Deal Services, and Finance Operations, with the possibility of progressively gaining exposure to external clients.
No two days look the same. You'll be coordinating across teams and time zones, chasing down discrepancies, resolving queries, and making sure the numbers tell the right story. You'll also work alongside our ART systems experts to improve how GCFU business is captured and reflected in our platforms — meaning you'll have a real say in shaping the tools and processes the team relies on.
If you're someone who's detail-oriented, enjoys problem-solving, and thrives when working across multiple stakeholders, this is a role where your contribution will be visible and genuinely valued.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
Monitoring of transactions:
- Ensure all transactions within the assigned area(s) are properly entered into the underwriting systems. Coordinate information flow externally and internally and ensure ongoing internal processes on assigned transactions are followed.
- Create payments requests following Program Manager's and Underwriters' guidance and monitor inwards and outwards payments to meet either standard or specific KPIs.
- Act as liaison point between them, GCU team members and finance.
Client Interaction:
- Work with external clients to ensure we have the same risks / premiums / claims on mutual contracts.
- Support Program Manager, Underwriters to anticipate client's cash flow expectations and support underwriters in providing regular updates to retrocessionaires.
Process and Systems Improvements:
- Work with underwriters, other deal management staff, finance and IT development to develop improvements / enhancements for the underwriting and processing systems.
General:
- Support in implementing KYCs procedures and preparation of standard insurance information and documentation
- Assist in general operations tasks and process development cross functions, contribute on assigned projects
What You’ll Bring to the Role
This role would suit someone with practical experience in an insurance operations, underwriting support, or deal services environment. Ideally you'll have:
- Experience entering, tracking, or reconciling transactions within (re)insurance underwriting or policy administration systems
- Exposure to payment processing and an understanding of premium and claims cash flows
- Confidence working with external clients or brokers in a professional, detail-driven capacity
- A track record of coordinating across multiple internal teams — you're comfortable being the person who joins the dots
- Some involvement in process or systems improvement initiatives, even informally
- Familiarity with KYC or compliance procedures within a regulated financial services environment
- Professional qualifications
