We are looking for a Junior Underwriter Construction, based in London.
Your Team
Embark on an exciting career journey with Allianz Commercial, a dedicated enabler of insurance/reinsurance products for the construction industry. Our team leverages extensive practical experience, successfully underwriting UK and international construction/engineering projects and annually renewable business including commercial and residential building projects, civil infrastructure/transportation projects, hydrogen production, power and utilities, LNG, chemicals and manufacturing plants and electric vehicle battery manufacturing plants. We have wealth of experience and expertise in the team together with a high level of insurance capacity which makes us a true market leader.
The Impact You Will Have
This role is based in our London office and focuses on supporting the London Large-Corp Construction Underwriting team craft and implement innovative Construction and Erection All Risks insurance and reinsurance solutions on behalf of our key clients and brokers to help achieve the teams financial goals. There will also be engagement and close collaboration with other supporting functions and lines of business within Allianz Commercial.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
- Support all underwriting activities within the Construction line of business remit.
- Assist in achieving profitability targets for new and renewal business.
- Contribute to contract certainty for all accounts at inception, ensuring precision in
- underwriting processes and procedures.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the regional underwriting strategy.
- Collaborate with our Risk Consulting, Claims, Distribution and Operations teams to
- enhance the overall underwriting process.
- Assist in preparation of management reporting and analytics and ensure high levels of
- data quality.
- Foster positive relationships with key clients, brokers and internal and external stakeholders.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- Experience or demonstrated interest in Underwriting, Operations, Claims, or a related insurance field.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and develop underwriting expertise and technical knowledge.
- Basic understanding of the Construction insurance market and competitor landscape.
- Understanding of the policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings and credit control.
- You have commercial acumen and enjoy building and maintaining relationships with external contacts such as brokers and clients.
- Ability to effectively absorb information from various sources, then analyze, study or examine data in detail and draw appropriate conclusions.
- Some awareness of the legal and regulatory environment.
- A willingness to learn and explore how AI can enhance your role and the broader organization is expected.
