We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Pricing Analyst to join our Motor Pricing Optimisation and R&D Team. This is a hybrid role based in our London office.
As a Principal Pricing Analyst, you will use machine learning techniques and insurance market knowledge to develop and implement price optimisation across our leading retail motor brands: LV, Allianz Online, and Britannia Car. You’ll plan and lead projects that bring together technical experts, and communicate the results to stakeholders across the business. As a trusted subject matter expert in your chosen field, you will act as a consultant to teams across Pricing, and provide training and mentoring to upskill colleagues.

Salary Information
Pay: Circa £64,000 per year.
Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
About You
As a Principal Pricing Analyst, you’ll have experience working in insurance and data science, and you’ll be looking to take the next step in your career to use your experience to take charge of major projects and to influence Allianz’s strategy for Motor pricing.
You understand that machine learning is a fast-developing field, and you relish the opportunity to proactively improve your knowledge and keep abreast of the latest innovations.
You’ll use that expertise to advise other teams and apply it to the full model building workflow – from data extraction to model deployment.
You’ll have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills that you’ll utilise to explain complex results to non-technical audiences, and to coordinate project teams of technical experts.
You’ll also be keen to share your in-depth knowledge to inform and inspire others through training and mentoring.
Essential Skills
We don't expect you to know everything from day one, but you should be able to demonstrate
the following:
- Experience in an insurance pricing role creating and using predictive models in a programming language such as WTW Emblem, WTW Radar, or Python.
- Proficiency in data pipeline and analysis tools, e.g. Databricks, SQL, PySpark, or equivalent.
- Capability to review and sign-off other team members’ data pipelines, models and analyses, to build and maintain high-quality, reliable, sustainable pricing processes.
- Knowledge of price optimisation and the UK regulatory environment.
- Extensive understanding of modelling techniques, including GLMs and GBMs, plus a desire to push the boundaries of the applications of machine learning to insurance pricing.
- Proven ability in Willis Towers Watson’s software Radar, using the latest functionality and championing best practice.
- Proficiency in Excel and MS Office applications.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships throughout both the Pricing Department and the wider business.
- Experience of planning and managing projects from inception to completion within business timelines.
- A passion for sharing technical knowledge in an informative and engaging way to upskill the Pricing team and build Allianz’s reputation as an industry leader in price optimisation.
- Comprehensive understanding of the factors that affect an insurance price and the elements of a customer lifetime value.
Desirable Skills
- Comprehensive experience of price optimisation in personal lines insurance. The ability to slot into the Pricing team as a subject matter expert in your area of expertise.
- Experience of responsible Artificial Intelligence usage for pricing and personal productivity tasks (e.g. coding) and willingness to explore the boundaries of its capability.
- Knowledge of Agile project management tools and processes, e.g. Jira.
