Role Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Risk Consultant to join our Second Line of Defence Enterprise Risk Management Team, providing support to the development and maintenance of the Allianz UK Enterprise Risk Management Framework and supporting the oversight of the identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of risks. Operating a flexible resourcing approach, the role will from time to time be expected to work across the wider Risk function, including with our Partnership teams.
We are seeking a motivated, analytical, and data-driven professional who embraces contemporary risk management practices. Increasingly utilising data analytics, automation, and AI techniques where appropriate, they will gain valuable insights and enhance efficiency. You will play an important role in supporting the Risk Function in achieving its strategic objectives.
Location
Reporting to the Enterprise Risk Management Director, this role aligns with the principles of the Allianz UK Hybrid Working Model and will be based in either our London or Guildford office.
Salary Information
Circa 45,000 per year.
Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
About You
Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to supporting activities within the following areas:
Risk Management
- Support the updating/maintenance and implementation of elements of the Risk Management Framework including Risk appetite, supporting policies, standards and functional rules.
- Support line manager and other senior risk colleagues in providing facilitation, advice, oversight and validation on risk topics, within your expertise, to the business and other stakeholders.
- Maintain the risk and control register, proposing and making changes with guidance from senior leaders.
- Carry out regular top and emerging risk assessments.
- Co-ordinate completion of risk attestations by preparing documents, scheduling meetings, reviewing evidence and challenging management / ensuring maintenance of evidence links in the risk register, and updating risk assessments.
- Support risk oversight, including the reporting of risks & controls and adherence to policy and standards.
- Assist in 2nd line controls testing activity, liaising on findings and agreeing outcomes with 1st line and Risk colleagues, ensuring quality of working papers and deliverables.
- Take the lead in delivering elements of deep dive reviews in to key areas of risk and drafting risk opinions for review.
- Assist in developing and refining risk management strategies and streamlined solutions, leveraging tools such as AI and automation to support maintenance of the risk management framework overall.
- Support other risk management activity as directed.
Risk Partnering
- Build strong working relationships within the Second Line Risk Function and engage with colleagues outside of Risk Function.
- Build and maintain a network within the UK Company, Allianz Group, and UK insurance market.
- Participate in internal meetings and/or facilitated internal workshops where appropriate.
Risk Reporting
- Facilitate the gathering and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data for risk analysis and reporting by sourcing and preparing data for monthly and ad hoc reports.
- Drafting papers in collaboration with colleagues for management and committees using data-driven insights to create high quality, consistent and easily understandable management information.
- Support the risk awareness and communication programme.
- Undertaking regular reviews, trend analysis and reporting of key indicators for risk controls and highlighting any trends.
Essential Skills
- Effectively manage personal workload, meeting key deadlines with guidance from line manager or other senior colleagues. Outcome focused in approach.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, assisting in drafting deliverables, writing up working papers, conducting control testing and recording results clearly.
- Ability to develop and implement monitoring & control processes in a regulatory environment, identifying deficiencies or improvement opportunities and suggesting tangible actions.
- Consistently present a professional & positive approach.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in and affinity for data analytics and AI techniques. Good numerical and IT skills. Able to use and gain value from data analysis tools such as PowerBI.
- Fluent in all MS Office 'tools of the trade'.
- Good organisational skills & attention to detail.
- Able to work with limited supervision & be self-motivated in a proactive manner seeing tasks through to resolution.
- Good understanding of and ability to assimilate corporate and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated with industry trends and regulatory changes, integrating new automation and visualisation techniques to enhance risk management processes.
- Proven track record within a GI insurance environment, time in an assurance function is an advantage.
- Experience in the non-life insurance or in risk management.
- A professional qualification has been obtained, or is being progressed (e.g. CIMA; IRM; CII).
