Within the Advisory & Services area (A&S), the Solutions and ESG team enables the delivery of the service offering as well as the governance of the activities of the Group's Centre of Competence for Natural Perils, located in the same area. The team is also responsible for the development of AZ Re's sustainability strategy, concrete actions to support the achievement of the company's respective ambition level as well as compliance with all internal and external requirements in the sustainability context. 

 

 

Key responsibilities

 

The Climate & Sustainability Project Lead at Allianz SE Re (in tandem with the Sustainability Lead) is responsible for managing all sustainability-related topics, acting as the main liaison with Global Sustainability, and coordinating sustainability activities within Allianz SE Re.

 

 

Key responsibilities (focus):

 

- Managing/leading projects related to Allianz Re´s sustainability and climate change initiatives.
- Handling sustainability knowledge management and communication for Allianz SE Re.


Key responsibilities (in tandem):


- Developing and reviewing Allianz SE Re's sustainability strategy, action plan, and targets.
- Chairing Allianz SE Re Sustainability Working Groups (e.g., EU Taxonomy, CSRD).
- Serving as the interface to Allianz SE Re management on sustainability matters.
- Coordinating responses to sustainability-related regulatory inquiries, especially in reinsurance.
- Responsibility for EU Taxonomy reporting.
- Shaping reinsurance-specific content in Allianz's sustainability reports and ratings.
- Engaging with sustainability working groups and communities across Allianz.
- Building a strong sustainability network within the Allianz Group.
- Managing Corporate Citizenship activities and annual reporting for Allianz SE Re.
- Ensuring quality assurance of environmental management and reporting for Allianz SE Re.
- Organizing the annual Allianz Climate Risk Award.

 


Qualification

 

- University degree, preferably at the Master's level, with majors in economics, business administration, finance, or law, ideally with a focus on sustainability, climate science, or climate policy.
- Strong business acumen with excellent analytical and conceptual abilities.
- Proven aptitude for translating sustainability-related internal and external requirements, such as EU Taxonomy and CSRD, into business-relevant advice, targets, and concrete implementation proposals.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven capability to effectively communicate with C-level executives.
- Customer-focused, proactive, reliable, flexible, and energetic team player.
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite, with knowledge of Allianz's internal sustainability-related tools as an advantage.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, with knowledge of German, French, Spanish, or other major languages considered an asset.

 


Experience & Key skills

 

- 3-5 years of relevant experience with a proven track record, preferably in the consulting or financial services industry, such as insurance, reinsurance, or asset management.
- Project management experience spanning 2-3 years - proven track record of involvement in key project management roles is essential.
- Experience in leading individuals or small teams at a functional level for 1-2 years.
- Proven interpersonal and intercultural skills.
- Very good technical understanding of climate change and its relevance for the (re)insurance sector.
- Understanding of the (re)insurance value chain and underwriting considerations is an advantage.
- Solid know-how of wider sustainability topics, including related external reporting frameworks such as EU Taxonomy and CSRD.
- Strong communication skills to represent sustainability topics relevant to Allianz Re both internally and externally.
- "Can do" attitude with a focus on quality execution and achievement of results under tight deadlines.
