Job Purpose Role


As Head of People & Culture (P&C) for Germany and Switzerland, you will define and execute the P&C strategy across our three Allianz Direct hubs in Munich, Halle, and Zurich. Leading a team of People Consultants a recruiter and a Senior People Business Partner, you ensure excellence in all core P&C processes and cultivate a strong, engaging, and future ready employee experience. In this role, you act as the senior P&C leader for the region, advising local leadership teams and collaborating closely with the respective works councils at each site.
Beyond your DACH responsibilities, you serve as an active member of our global People & Culture community, driving strategic people initiatives that fuel Allianz Direct’s growth and cultural development across all markets.

 

 

Key responsibilities:

 

1. Strategic People & Culture Leadership
•    Develop and implement end to end P&C strategies that sustainably support the business and translate business priorities into impactful people solutions.
•    Assess the P&C implications of the business strategy and design appropriate interventions and programs.
•    Collaborate with P&C peers and experts across other countries to shape and implement cross market programs and initiatives.

2. Business Partnering & Strategic Advisory incl Works Council Relationships
•    Partner with and coach business leaders, acting as a strategic advisor on all people‑related topics.
•    Provide guidance and coaching to people leaders and employees on employee‑relations matters, ensuring a fair, compliant, and consistent approach.
•    Serve as a trusted contact person for the Works Council bodies in Munich and Halle, fostering constructive and transparent collaboration.
•    Lead and steer Works Council negotiations, ensuring effective preparation, clear communication of business requirements, and strong partnership throughout all co‑determination processes

3. People Programs, Processes & Employee Experience
•    Execute P&C programs and manage regular P&C processes (e.g., rewards, performance, talent, development, recruiting, organizational changes) in close partnership with business areas and P&C Centers of Expertise.
•    Develop and implement initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention—including performance management, career development, and recognition programs.

4. Leadership of the P&C Team
•    Lead, mentor, and develop a team of five P&C professionals across Munich and Halle.
•    Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, continuous learning, and innovation within the team.


 
Qualifications/Key skills:


 
Professional Experience


•    Minimum of 6 years of relevant P&C/HR experience, ideally in an international or global organization.
•    Proven experience working with employee representative bodies, including strong knowledge of German labor and employment law.
•    Demonstrated experience managing organizational change, including restructuring and transformation programs with a global scope.
•    Ability to work effectively in a matrix and virtual team environment across multiple locations.

 

Skills & Capabilities


•    Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships at all organizational levels, including Senior Management.
•    Excellent negotiation skills, including in complex or sensitive situations, with the ability to steer discussions toward desired outcomes.
•    Strong communication skills and fluency in both German and English.
•    High level of autonomy, resilience, and a hands on, can do attitude.

 

Education


•    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in law, business, psychology, or a related field.
