Let’s care for tomorrow.

Your ambitions.  Your dreams.  Your tomorrow

Whether it’s aircraft, international business or offshore wind parks, Allianz Commercial has an extensive range of risks covered when it comes to protecting businesses.

We are looking for an Intern in the AI & Advanced Analytics team within Allianz Commercial (m/f/d), based in Munich.

Your Team

At Allianz Commercial, our COO Office is a collaborative and innovative team at the heart of global operations. As an intern, you’ll work side by side with experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience in strategic projects that shape the future of our business. We value fresh perspectives, teamwork, and a shared drive to make an impact. You’ll be supported, challenged, and empowered to grow, both personally and professionally. If you’re looking for a dynamic environment where your ideas matter and every day brings something new, this is your chance to be part of a team that’s shaping the future of insurance.

The Impact You Will Have

AI is moving from pilot to production at Allianz Commercial, and how we govern it is what determines whether it scales safely. The EU AI Act takes effect in August 2026, DORA is live, regulators across our markets are sharpening their expectations, and every new AI use case we deploy has to clear a lifecycle of risk, legal, architecture, and compliance review before it ever touches a customer or an underwriter's desk.

This internship sits at the centre of that work. You will join the central AI & Advanced Analytics team and partner directly with the Principal Consultant responsible for AI governance, with regular exposure to the Head of AI & Advanced Analytics, senior stakeholders, and colleagues across Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Enterprise Architecture. You will see how a global commercial insurer translates regulatory requirements into operational guardrails, and you will help us run that machine.

It is a role for someone who finds the regulatory edge of AI genuinely interesting, who notices when a process is leaky, and who takes quiet satisfaction in moving complex things through the system cleanly.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

  • Supporting the Principal Consultant in delivering strategic governance initiatives across the AI & Advanced Analytics portfolio.

  • Coordinating and facilitating use case review sessions with governance, architecture, legal, risk, and compliance colleagues, including agenda preparation, minutes, and decision tracking.

  • Shepherding AI use cases through the governance lifecycle, from intake and registration through review, approval, and ongoing assurance.

  • Supporting the migration of existing use cases between platforms and registries, ensuring documentation, controls, and audit trails travel with them.

  • Preparing executive presentations for the Head of AI & Advanced Analytics and senior stakeholders.

  • Conducting project management for AI initiatives, including timelines, dependencies, risks, and follow-ups.

  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses and presenting findings in clear, structured reports.

  • Drafting meeting summaries and documentation for leadership decision-making.

  • Assisting in developing stakeholder engagement strategies and communication materials.

  • Collaborating with global and cross-functional teams across regions and functions to ensure alignment and timely delivery.

  • Taking ownership of assigned tasks, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Current enrolment in a Bachelor's or Master's programme in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Law, or a related field.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a sharp eye for detail.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Confidence with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

  • Fluency in English, spoken, written, and reading.

  • Demonstrated interest or prior experience in legal, regulatory, risk, compliance, or AI governance topics is highly valued.

  • A demonstrated interest in the insurance industry is a plus.

  • A basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential applications in business is essential.

What you will gain:

Direct, hands-on exposure to how a global commercial insurer operationalises AI governance under the EU AI Act, DORA, and adjacent regimes. You will leave with practical experience in AI risk management, stakeholder engagement at senior levels, and the lifecycle of enterprise AI delivery, which is one of the most sought-after skill sets in the market today.

Further Information:

  • Duration: Minimum of 6 months (preferably longer)

  • Working hours: 38 hours per week

  • You must be enrolled at a university (Bachelor’s or Master’s), or be in a transitional period between degrees (e.g., between completing your Bachelor’s and starting your Master’s) for the entire duration of the internship.
