Allianz Commercial is seeking a dynamic, strategic and experienced Portfolio Finance Manager to join our Global Performance Steering (GPS) team within the Chief Finance Office (CFO) in Munich. This is your opportunity to become a key financial and strategic advisor for our diverse and global portfolio, driving performance excellence and shaping the future of Allianz Commercial.  

  

Your Team  

As part of the Commercial Steering team, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the global Allianz Commercial portfolio, including Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty business and the Mid Corp business from various other Allianz entities. Our diverse team is dedicated to providing comprehensive financial reporting, conducting in-depth portfolio investigations, and developing strategic directions in collaboration with other finance, underwriting and distribution areas, and various Group or regional centers.

You will report directly to the Head of Commercial Steering, contributing to a consistent steering and target-setting approach across the Commercial regions, entities and lines of business. 

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

  • Financial Analysis & Assessment: Deliver insightful financial analyses for IFRS 17 result performance across Allianz Commercial regions, entities, and lines of business. 

  • Strategic Steering: Prepare aggregated assessments based on steering cycle activities, identifying performance drivers, risks, and opportunities. Support key strategic initiatives such as growth, productivity and resilience, together with digital transformation, technical excellence and sustainability. 

  • Portfolio Steering: Collaborate closely with other finance departments, underwriting, distribution and portfolio managers to steer Allianz Commercial towards strategic targets. 

  • Ambassador Role: Act as a strong representative for specific entities or lines of business, developing a deep understanding of their portfolio, performance and outlook, and identifying necessary actions or recommendations for steering. 

  • Group Center Role: Influence target setting and achievement for your area of responsibility through corporate strategy reviews and planning dialogues, and drive Group related steering activities like PD, SD or Group Smart Circle 

  • Executive Communication: Prepare and convey strategic discussions and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders, responding to ad-hoc requests. 

  • Best Practice Sharing: Drive efficiency and harmonize global standards across Commercial organizational entities. 

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

  • Educational Background: University degree in Economics, Mathematics, or a related field. 

  • Professional Experience: 5+ years in finance, underwriting, actuarial, or risk management within Allianz P&C insurance or reinsurance entities. 

  • Analytical and Presentation Skills: Strong competency in working with large data sets, attention to detail, and creating concise, visual presentations. Experience with PowerBI is of advantage.  

  • Insurance Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of commercial and specialty insurance business, financial interpretation of IFRS17 P&L, and strategic mindset. 

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present findings effectively to stakeholders, including senior management. 

  • Networking & Influence: Strong networking and influencing skills, understanding of global organizational interconnectivities, and passion for stakeholder interaction. 

  • Ownership: Proven experience in leading or contributing to larger initiatives or projects, with a proactive and reliable mindset. 

  • Language Proficiency: Proficient in English; additional languages are advantageous. 

  • AI: Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is highly beneficial.
