Let’s care for tomorrow.
Your ambitions. Your dreams. Your tomorrow
Whether it’s aircraft, international business or offshore wind parks, Allianz Commercial has an extensive range of risks covered when it comes to protecting businesses.
We are looking for a Product & Change Portfolio Manager – Specialty Lines & Portfolio Solutions (m/f/d), based in London or Munich.
Your Team
The Underwriting Transformation team, reporting directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer of Allianz Commercial, drives or supports the global implementation and delivery of the Allianz Commercial Underwriting Transformation strategies.
The team oversees various people, process, and technology changes, including IT product management, to enable more effective transformation. Acting as a key facilitator, the team collaborates with and influences diverse stakeholders—such as Global and Regional Line of Business Heads, Operations, Allianz Technology, Global Programs, Global Pricing & CAT, Claims, UWIS, Legal, Compliance, and CBO —to prioritise initiatives, monitor change capacity and steer delivery.
The goal of this new team is to ensure an integrated, efficient, and effective approach to navigating the organisation’s complex and evolving landscape and ensure changes are aligned to our key business objectives.
The Impact You Will Have
As a Product and Change Portfolio Leader, you will operate across multiple lines of business to synthesize various initiatives into a cohesive, sequenced, and manageable roadmap for the LOB within your remit. Working closely with your peers and leadership and change managers, product owners or project managers, where/if assigned to initiatives, the role is to ensure that change isn't just "delivered" on paper, but effectively adopted by people and delivers benefits aligned to our strategic goals, while ensuring senior leadership provides the visible sponsorship required for success.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
Portfolio Coordination & Strategic Alignment
- Centralized Visibility: Working closely with the PMO/APO and various functions, product, project and initiative teams maintain a holistic view of all change initiatives across the business lines within your remit to identify dependencies, overlaps, and resource conflicts
- Prioritization & Sequencing: Lead the "Change Heatmap" process to ensure the LOB within your remit do not exceed its capacity for change
- Governance: Facilitate portfolio review meetings with your Sponsor and key leadership / stakeholders to ensure projects align with long-term strategic goals and prioritise changes when conflicts are identified.
- Aligned Business Strategy and Business Case Review: Ensure all related business cases are aligned to business strategies and objectives and benefits are reviewed and fully understood by Sponsors and business teams.
Impact Assessment & Change Readiness
- Cross-Functional Analysis: Analyze how individual changes aggregate at the front-line level (e.g., ensuring a single team isn't receiving three major system or process updates in the same month). Ensuring a reduction in adverse project "collisions" within or across business tams
- Risk Mitigation: Identify "change fatigue" risks and develop intervention strategies to protect employee productivity and well-being.
User Engagement & Adoption Excellence
- Working closely with your peers and leadership and change managers, product owners or project managers, where/if assigned to initiatives:
- Feedback Loops: establish structured mechanisms (surveys, focus groups, user forums) to gather qualitative and quantitative insights from end-users.
- Measurement Frameworks: Define and track adoption KPIs (e.g., proficiency rates, usage frequency, and sentiment) working closely with project teams.
- Continuous Improvement: Feed user insights back into project workstreams to pivot or refine solutions before full-scale rollout.
Executive Sponsorship & Leadership Coaching
- Working closely with your peers and leadership and change managers, product owners or project managers, where/if assigned to initiatives:
- Sponsor Enablement: Coach senior leaders on the "Prosci" (or similar) methodology, ensuring they understand their role in being Active and Visible throughout the change lifecycle.
- Communication Strategy: Partner with leaders to draft and deliver authentic, high-impact communications that "tell the story" of the change and/or develop a cohesive change story integrating multiple interrelated changes across the organisation and tied back to overall business strategies
- Accountability: Ensure sponsors are equipped to handle resistance and celebrate milestones effectively.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- Experience: 10+ years in Operations, Strategy or Change Management, or Business Transformation within complex cross lines underwriting organisation. Ideally with experience in Aviation or Marine lines of business.
- Analytical Rigor: Ability to analyse and simpliy multiple data sources and turn it into clear, actionable insights regarding impacts to users, adoption and portfolio health
- Influence: Proven ability to navigate a matrixed environment and influence all levels of stakeholders without direct "line" authority.
- Methodology: Certification in Change Management (e.g., CCMP, Prosci) and familiarity with Agile/Waterfall project methodologies is highly preferred.
- Empathy: A deep understanding of the human side of change and the ability to advocate for the end-user.
- AI: The ability to ensure ethical AI practices and stay updated with emerging AI technologies will be key to maintaining a competitive advantage.
